I don't think the original owners still run it. It got bought out and solely exists as one of several Internet front-ends for a much larger distribution company. The only thing costing money are the web server costs, everything else is spread out over several different Internet stores serving the exact same products.

It you live close to a Fry's you can have them price-match DVD Planet's prices for immediate gratification. I did this for Capt. Phillips & Blue Jasmine yesterday.
(Fry's is getting very aggressive with their price-matching policy and they have a very large selection of movies that puts Best Buy and Target to shame. Plus, the sales department clerk does all the work--you give him the website you want to price-match with and he does all the paperwork.)

I have no idea if this will work for anyone else, but it may be worth a shot.
I put Captain Phillips in my cart earlier today and was trying to debate putting together a large enough order to get free shipping ($35). I never finished the order and intended to get back to it. Several hours later, I received a personalized $5 off of $25 coupon code in my e-mail with a subject heading of "You didn't complete your purchase...". So now I'm all the more likely to add another item or 2 to take advantage of the code and the free shipping.
