Re: Amazon: Godzilla (Criterion) $7.50, Metropolis (Kino) $1.50 plus shipping
I've been searching online for lists of the best episodes. The list on the Nostalgia Critic's site has Night Game, Slimer Come Home, The Spirit of Aunt Lois, The Hole in the Wall Gang, Mrs. Rogers Neighborhood, Mr. Sandman Dream Me a Dream, The Thing in Mrs. Faversham’s Attic, X-Mas Marks the Spot, When Halloween Was Forever, and The Boogeyman Cometh. Another list I found has The Thing in Mrs. Faversham’s Attic, Elementary My Dear Winston, The Collect Call of Cathulhu, Ragnarok and Roll, The Grundel, Robo-Buster, The Copycat, The Halloween Door, Knock Knock, and Citizen Ghost. The Volume 1 DVD set includes nine of these. Not bad.
There's still a place in my heart for Ghostbusters these days, but it's mostly for the first movie. I hope the Volume 1 set of the cartoon will rekindle whatever it was that I saw in it as a kid, making me beg my parents to spend what little money they had on so much cheap plastic crap.
And if not, I'm out five bucks. I've made worse decisions lately.

Both my Godzilla and Forever Marilyn are showing as shipped.
While I'm sure criterion puts a lot of work into their releases, I generally always viewed criterions as overpriced for the titles they offered. For the most part they just don't fit my taste in things. But the first movie that launched the iconic Japanese monster AND the low price? That's a pretty good way to finally own a criterion.

Disagree! It's experimental and not for everyone, but I think the 80's soundtrack augments the movie in a way the humdrum original never could. I'm no purist; I just want the version that entertains me the most.

I think you might have been at that birthday screening. There was a guy chewing out the manager for showing such a crappy version of the movie

My parents bought the laser disc and the movie poster for this version. It was probably the first silent film I ever saw. I'm sure nostalgia plays a big part in its appeal to me too.

This is crazy, but I could have sworn I ordered The Real Ghostbusters last week when I posted in this thread but I can't find any receipt in my email whatsoever. I ordered it just now and it won't be here until mid-January, which is fine, but that's just so bizarre. I really could have sworn I already ordered.

My Godzilla and Marilyn set came in. Sadly it seems the Marilyn packaging is slightly damaged and it sounds like at least one of the discs is floating.

Just unsealed my Marilyn box. One one book the one disc was floating, on the other book one pouch was empty and another pouch had 2 discs. Weird. But at least everything is there.

The follow arrived in the mail:
1. The Real Ghost Busters Vol 1 (steelbook) DVD*
2. Repulsion (Criterion) DVD
3. Forever Marilyn (blu-ray)**
4. Godzilla (Criterion) BD
5. Metropolis BD
* WTF? They taped the booklet to the back cover with two-sided tape! It took five minutes to peel it off, and not without damaging the booklet.
** Tempted to return this--it's been crushed to shit. Only, less than $2 a movie is hard to pass up...

Sounds like Clover Media was discounting the Marilyn set for the same reason Amazon Warehouse Deals was, because the packaging is at least a little damaged -- because it's so shitty -- and because of potentially scratched floaters.
