Re: DeepDiscount.com: Only for today,11/28 - additional 15% off everything

I've ordered dozens of times from there over the years and the only problem I've ever had was they once ran out of an import BD and couldn't get any more in.

I spent too long deciding on what to buy so I missed on this sale. I'm guessing there will be another similar code for Cyber Monday.

Hope you're right about CM. I did the same as you & missed out...actually fell asleep at the computer about an hour before it ended & woke up 30 minutes too late (missed it by this much!).

Made a list for reference (for some reason, the site won't let me add things to wish list). I used to be one of DD's most loyal customers and loud advocate (back when it was DDD and had the 25% off on everything sales), but the site can be frustrating to use (I can't even view the items on my open order). They always had a habit of fluctuating prices during sales, but their poor site maintenance (website crashes, codes ending before advertised times, etc.) have made me hesitant to order, so I wasn't too bummed. They have some good prices on some items, but the 15% off was the incentive I needed to pull the trigger. So I guess their loss is my monetary gain.

I have gotten some opened copies from them in the past couple of years despite their protestations that this never happens.

I got an email from them yesterday and it stated they had already shipped my order! I have never had one bit of a problem ordering from DD over the years.

Fuck them.
Is that for real?! They're surly.

I ordered from them during their (not so) big 25% off sale, then saw all of the same titles cheaper at dvdplanet (same company, of course). I had a coupon for $5 off $25 at dvdplanet this time around, and it brought all 4 dvds under DD's prices for the 15% off sale. I might be through with DD (although I guess technically that's not true).

the problems I've had with them, since they were bought out by Super D, usually have to do with the condition the discs arrive in. Since I'm on the east coast and they now ship from Ca, rather than Il, stuff gets bounced around for another couple thousand miles. They take longer to get and are more likely to have wrenched loose from their hubs or have their cases crushed/punctured/broken.
With all these Super D companies I try to order at least 4 in stock items at a time so there is a better chance of getting them shipped in a box.
Unfortunately for all the sales this year, I couldn't resist the temptation to pre-order a lot of stuff, so I'll be getting plenty of things sent one at a time.

Super D are @$$hole$'$. Their goal is to put ALL mom & pop internet retailers out of business. For tose who don't know, Super D is a wholesaler (formerly Phantom, when they were a moral company (if there is such a thing). The own around 10 large i-net retailers, all of whom undercut their wholesale prices. They are unfortunately the largest indy USA wholesaler left.

I'm positive that Super D is the drop shipper for many media items sold by Amazon. If Amazon doesn't have a direct relationship with a media distributor (true for many smaller companies), even they use an outfit like Super D.

For being such a large company, they sure offer lame prices and quirky sales.

Thanks for the link. I knew it was bad (large i-net Jazz retailer World's Records flat out blamed Super D for putting them out of business); but i didn't know it was this bad; this is basically a monopoly.

I've been in the off price music/film industry since 1998 on the net & in B&M's before that. We're down to 3 full time overstock wholesalers from about 15 last decade; the others have all gone out of business. And 2 of the 3 don't get anywhere near the product they used to. The 3rd charges almost retail prices, though they have a great selection.

This is frightening.

This.
The only problem I've had with them canceling orders was when an import title was no longer in stock.

I've never seen anything like that email (talking to a customer rep on the phone however has been another matter entirely...)
