Man of Steel exclusives & best prices

The Kmarts in LA were always trashed. I'd go to the toy aisle, and toys would be scattered all over the floor. You couldn't even walk down the aisle. It was awful. I used to hit the one on Fairfax the most, and occasionally the one near the airport.

Not sure how this stacks up against all the other versions discussed in this thread—or the drive and time for some to get them—but Amazon just dropped the price of the 3D/BD/DVD/DC edition to $24.96:

I had the usual Target experience. I went to one suburban St. Louis store and their records showed "41 copies", but they couldn't find the book. Everyone was polite and helpful but I basically wasted 20 minutes or so. I went to the second one and they had three copies; it could be somewhat confusing if you didn't know what you were looking for, since all the different versions were in the same cardboard standee. All of the books had the exclusive content sticker.
The lenticular cover is terrific.

I broke down and got the Target digibook as well. $18 is a fair price (with Cartwheel; Red Card offsets my tax). IMO the 3D just isn't worth it. I'm not talking about the price. I saw the movie in the theater, and thought the 3D was worthless. Nothing came out of the screen, and depth wasn't impressive. It was the 2nd worst 3D movie I've seen (speaking solely in regards to the 3D effects).

After reading the above posts, I went ahead and bought the Target Digibook. I almost always get the 3D version when available, but I'd heard similar things about the 3D effect here and that digibook is pretty sweet with the lenticular cover. Also the Target bonus features look to be pretty substantial in this case (judging by the description -- I have no idea how long they actually are).
Anyway, I probably would have spent the extra $7 for the 3D version, but I'm pretty glad I checked here first and went the Target Limited version instead.
BTW : Is Wal-Mart high? How can they possibly justify charging an extra $5 for their exclusive steelbook version (with no additional content)? It's admittedly a pretty one, but they're not supposed to be jacking up the price; the steelbook is their exclusive to get you to buy it there. They're not supposed to jack up the price of the set to gauge collectors. Do they think they're on eBay or something?

It does have additional content. The feature film disc has 2 additional extras not on any other release. Some said it's better than the Target bonus disc.

Went to two Walmarts after work but couldn't find the collector set. Bought the steel book for the exclusive featurettes but may end up returning it.
Went to two Targets and I guess the 3D version didn't get the exclusive this time. Bought the book version for $17.99.

It would be nice to have more exclusive content, but I'm happy enough with the Target version.
This trend of retailer-exclusive content is bad enough -- not including any of them on the more expensive 3D versions is more infuriating.

In for the Target digibook. My store had a ton of them last night. Reasonable price, and it looks awesome too.

Got lucky last night and scored a Limited Edition from Wal-Mart. Was surprised that they still had a couple, and they hadn't fixed the price yet (mine rang up $27.99). So there is still hope for those that didn't get in on the deal early Tuesday.
As of last night, there was still 1 left at the Plymouth, WI store. I found it on the employee counter where they sell the cell phones and stuff...not in with the other movies (though right across from them). So if you don't see them right away, look around the area. Good luck to anyone still in need of one!

I made a promise to myself that I'll only buy movies I enjoy in 3D. I had a bad habit of buying everything on BD and never getting around to watching them. So that said, I picked up MoS at Target for $28 last night.

Re: Man of Steel exclusives & best prices
Are 3D Blu-rays usually included in such Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals.
Basically, I was interested in picking up both Man of Steel & Pacific Rim 3D Blu-rays. They are priced at $25 & $30 respectively on Amazon right now. Not sure if I should just pick them up now or wait for any sales in the next month or two.
I'm kind of new to buying 3D Blus.
EDIT- I thought I was posting in a Black Friday thread! Whoops! Maybe I'll re-post there, unless someone has any insight to share!

I've seen only a handful of major November new releases get killer pricing on Black Friday. Usually the best you can hope for is $14.99 (see Brave last year). From my experience, the sweet spot of new major releases that will see serious Black Friday lovin' is late-September through late-October.

For anyone who waited on this (like I did), Best buy has the 2 disc set+UV for $9.99 in their ad for this week. That's the price I was waiting for!

Amazon is matching at $9.99 now as well. It's weird, when I searched it came up as $12.99, but when I took the link from BR.com, it was $10. Go figure.
