Just had the store call me and tell me that they can only hold the set for 1 day even though it says 3 days, as its a high demand item and that it was the last of the 7 sets they got. So make sure you get it asap if you want it.

Thanks for the heads-up. It will have to wait until Friday when the coupon goes live. Hopefully my store will hold it for me.

Would do except my closest B&N is 25 miles away. I'll roll the dice for Friday.

Picked up the Zatoichi set this evening. First picked up a $100 GC to get the free $10 GC. Then purchased the set with snail mail 20% off and GC for $87 after taxes. willdo a return/rebuy if the 40% is a go...although,wouldn't want to head out anywhere this weekend - SoCal will be a battle zone

Got a generic 30% off coupon for BF. Not sure if the 40% will materialize at this point.

Just a heads up, Amazon has Four Feathers Criterion for $17.99 right now as a lightning deal. It's only $2 cheaper, but for those who still don't pay tax on Amazon, might be worth it.

I pay tax either way, so I'll just pick it up on Amazon.

Thanks for the heads up!

Looks like Island of Lost Souls will be a lightning deal tomorrow as well.

I heard stores are closed tomorrow, but you should at least be able to use the online codes probably starting at around midnight ET. Coupons are currently not active when I checked earlier this morning. I'm still hopeful a printable 40 may still materialize today. However it's also possible there might not be a store coupon available, and only the store coupon number to go by to use it. Of course that's ymmv situation if they will accept it.

I think it's fair to say that Lizard and Laser are some great motherfuckers in helping a brotha get a deal.

Re: B&N 50% Criterion blu-ray sale November 5 through December 2

Just got the Zatoichi set.

I could have waited for the 40% coupon. Could have. But fuck it.

$112.49
+ MC 10%
+ 30% coupon
+ Texas tax
= $76.72

Goddamn was this fat fucker behind me pissed. He was actually talking to the cashier about the set. Luckily I called yesterday for a hold. I strolled up 20 mins before they closed and just told him about the hold. And just bought it. I think the guy was wanting to convince the clerk about selling him my set.

So it's a nice set. From looking at it... It's about 7 inches in height... 7.5 in width... And 3 inches from the side. I seriously thought it was going to be bigger. Very compact. Very nice artwork. Not a fan of taking a disc out of the page sleeve but that's a personal preference.

I'm done with buying. I think I'm at $200 with my buying. That's just 20% of what I got last year. Zatoichi was the bitch I was waiting for.

Re: B&N 50% Criterion blu-ray sale November 5 through December 2

I count myself very lucky I live about 25 minutes from the Cary, NC store - they are typically very generous with coupon usage and stacking...and they stock the hell out of Criterions during this sale. I did call to reserve the Zatoichi set...but they had at least ten copies on the shelf behind the register when I checked out this evening.

Thinking ahead to the potential 50% BBC sale in December - is the Dr Who complete Blu-ray collection with the sonic screwdriver an Amazon exclusive? I didn't see it offered on the B&N site - that would be a sweet deal with a 20 or 30% additional discount!

..is that the number? I made it $58... which is a fantastic price, but I was curious about the math! Does the system take off the percentages then the discount, or does it vary..?

Zatoichi buyers: wouldn't it be wiser to buy a 75$ gift card to make the purchase and then get a $10 gift card come Christmas?

You're so golden then. just trying to point out to the people who might've "overlook" that giftcard deal.

Yep, I'll probably need to buy five gift cards to fully cover this sale. That sort of adds another 12% off to my prices.

The 40% coupon is working great at stores. I used it at two different stores today with not too much trouble. The only issue was the clerks at two different stores thought the 30% and 40% coupons were the same. Until I pointed out they were different they were going to restrict me to only one. Think I'm finished with the Criterion sale. Anyway got the following today with two 40% coupons, two 30% coupons, two $5/50 coupons, and the 10% member discount.

Zatoichi box
Shoah
Life is Sweet
I Married a Witch
Ministry of Fear

Great job, Laser....delicious irony to see 'Shoah' and 'Life is Sweet' next to each other in your listing :-)

Re: B&N 50% Criterion blu-ray sale November 5 through December 2

Most likely my final haul:
Spoiler:

I didn't know there was a 40% off coupon but I did use 30% off for both Zatoichi (76.91 Total) and The Bossellini Collection (34.17 Total). I also didn't realize they had a buy 75 dollars worth of gift cards and get 10 dollars. They had zero signs in either store telling about this and I even looked around to see if there were any offers on gift cards.
