Re: Dick Van Dyke Complete $47 shipped at DVD Planet

beat me by "that" much.

Ordered this and TZ. Didn't think this would be cheap enough for an upgrade. If this goes through it's an early BF.

Awww, f***. Is there an English word for loving yourself and hating yourself at the same time? I am wayyy over budget, but can't pass up something like this. At this point I'm almost thinking DVD Planet has a disgruntled employee (or perhaps a lousy programmer).

Wow, never imagined I'd bag both complete series of TZ and this on the same day.

If you hover/click over the "Send" link it will list a $127.20 price in the pop-up.

Edit: Now it's listing the $48 price. Not sure what's going on.

Damn- can't afford both right now but tempted to at least get Twilight Zone- how long will these be at that price for?

Re: Dick Van Dyke Complete $47 shipped at DVD Planet

Goodness. I already pulled the trigger on TZ. The difference here--I already own each of the season sets from this series. Decisions, decisions...

And I mentioned this in the TZ thread, but this is strange. The last purchase I made from DVD Planet was in 2009 when they had a sale on season sets of The Dick Van Dyke Show and The Twilight Zone.

Re: Dick Van Dyke Complete $47 shipped at DVD Planet

Ok, I bought it. Remembered the small discount through using a rebates site and that my Discover card is giving 5% cash back on online purchases. Perhaps I can sell/gift some of my DVD sets. I think I've only opened the first couple.

Re: Dick Van Dyke Complete $47 shipped at DVD Planet

Geeeeeezus, I hope this one goes through more than the TZ one (if only one goes through). Wowza! But I suspect both will be canceled. Went through a cash back site anyway, in case it goes through... At least they are in-stock and not pre-orders. Gives them a slightly better chance of actually shipping...

Re: Dick Van Dyke Complete $47 shipped at DVD Planet

Is there really that much doubt about it going through? Does this site have problems with that sort of thing? I went ahead and ordered each of the sets but from all the talk, I guess I don't expect to actually get them.

When there is clearly a price mistake, there is always doubt. No, they don't have a history of it per se. But many sites would cancel the orders if they catch the mistake in time, since this would be a monetary loss for them. It doesn't hurt to try ordering. But I hate seeing people complain IF it does get canceled. You just can't "expect" price mistakes to go through. All we can do is hope...

Re: Dick Van Dyke Complete $47 shipped at DVD Planet

It's funny how attitudes have changed. A few years ago people on this board were threatening to sue if an e-tailer didn't honor a price error. Now people are wondering if they will actual ship it and calling them asking if they made a mistake.

Re: Dick Van Dyke Complete $47 shipped at DVD Planet

Well, with so few left in business you shouldn't want to hurt them TOO much Having worked at Tower.com 10 years ago, I had a good number of people upset about not getting something for nothing- last one I remember was when some TV show sets were selling for ridiculously low amounts like $2 each and they got cancelled, one guy called up absolutely furious- I told him I'd never have the balls to do that myself. (Although it's funny how some of the same ones showed up at Big Lots for $3-6 after Tower went under!) Another big one was when a set of Friday and Next Friday were priced at $9.99, and this was long before any single movies went for that price. Funny thing was I told one of the higher-ups about that and he said it wasn't a pricing error, then later it turned out that it was and most orders were getting cancelled. Given those movies' audiences, they weren't very gracious about the whole thing either.

Anyways, I ordered Twilight Zone, but won't be too mad if it doesn't ship. Wish DVDPlanet would've at least stayed Ken Crane's though...

I also noticed the Thriller - Complete Series DVD was adjusted to $62 from an earlier price of $32.

Deep Discount has problems with that sort of thing, which DVD Planet is a part of.

Kinda funny. It's not often DVD Planet or DVD Empire get threads AT ALL. Pulled the trigger on both. Wish I'd known about Thriller but went to bed before it was posted.

Re: Dick Van Dyke Complete $47 shipped at DVD Planet

Just checked my credit card statement online. In addition to my original order of DVD & TZ, there is a separate pending charge dated today for the DVD set. Which probably means my order w/TZ is going to be cancelled. Going to keep my eye out on this matter just the same.

At least my Thriller set shipped, so I have no complaints.

Re: Dick Van Dyke Complete $47 shipped at DVD Planet

This seems to happen on every big unbelievable deal. I'm always one of the first to order and one of the last to get the damn thing shipped.

I still have nothing and both of my orders are "Open" and "Not Yet Shipped". The waiting game sucks.

My order page on dvdplanet still says that, but I got an email with a tracking number in my junk folder.
