Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
I went to Grafton store today, didn't see any Blu's stickered for $5, and didn't see any signs saying 2 blu's for $4. They had a dvd deal sign up. They had numerous copies of John Carter Blu, and all stickered at $7.99. I'll have to check other stores I guess. First time in a family video btw.

Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
My store didn't have any signs. I asked the girl where the Blu-rays are and if they were 2 for $4. She said yes. They have stickers on them for lesser deals.

Picked up a few today, good deal!

Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
Store I went to had no clue and said it was online only....yea...
|
Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
Checked 3 other stores today, none of them were doing this deal & looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about it. Since I hate wasting my time I went back to the other store & found a few more that I missed yesterday....

Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
Bought these so far from this sale:
Skyline Tell Tale Don't be Afraid of the Dark Trust The Slammin Salmon Dead Man Running Brake ATM The Wicker Tree Silent House Assassin's Bullet Goon Beneath the Darkness Vanishing on 7th Street |
Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
They've had this for a while; I bought Super and Cop Out (retail edition) for $2 each a few weeks ago. Most others were either cruddy or movies I already had and paid much more for. Grrrr.

Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
It seemed like a YMMV situation dependent on individual store stock. My record of sharing deals speaks for itself.

Slim pickin's at the local store but I found Drive and Stake Land so I'm pleased. They had a dedicated shelf of the 2 for 4's but a lot of the movies were on the shelves with regular rentals. |
Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
That's what I don't like about Family Video - how they've got the ones for sale out on the shelves rather than in a central used section. I get the logic; customers may just decide to buy something when they were looking to rent, but it's a drag to have to comb the whole store to find deals.
Also, when it's possible to get Blu-rays for $2 (or $5 with Beast Buy's U&S) makes it hard to look at $7-$8 as a good price. I know it's madness when not so long ago we'd get moist for 2/$20 DVD sales, but after looting out closing HWV and BBV stores for a buck or two a pop, 3/$21 at FV seems a little pricey. |

Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
Hey, as I always remind my g/f, we used to eagerly scan the Sunday ad circulars to see what the new release DVD prices would be. The example I always use is paying $17 for Original Sin in March 2002. Now I wouldn't pay that much for a single movie unless it was a Criterion or buried in extras.

Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
Went to a different FV. They were 10 for $10! Got these for $10.60

Wow, that's a GREAT deal!

Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
jealous. very, very jealous. a buck a hit, it's no wonder there's so many resellers on ebay, that pricepoint is too fuckin good.

Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
There was no sign or anything some of them had '2 for $4' stickers on them. When she rang them up and said $10.60 I was like "what?" She said, "They were 10 for $10." I should have grabbed more. I have an appointment next Friday in town. I already have Don't be Afraid of the Dark so I'm going to exchange that and grab some more.

Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
Went to the Family Video in Berkley, MI and picked up Hereafter and Contagion from the 2/$4 rack and they ran up at that price; no dollar joy for me. Also got The Dictator Unrated for $5.
Most newer Blu-rays are $7.99 or 3/$21 including all the Silver Linings Playbook copies there tonight, so I'm not sure what happened a few weeks back when I got it for $5. EDIT: I see junglalien got Contagion as well, but his price code was 605; my 2/$4 titles are PC 820. (Dictator was PC 675) |
Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
I've been to about seven of these stores in Milwaukee, Madison and even Portage in the last week. I usually only found a few DVDs for 2 for $4, no blu's for that price. The last one I went to in West Allis had a bunch of DVDs for $1, but no art, just the disc in a clear case. Looks like I'll wait for the next sale to see if the ones around me participate with blu's.

Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
Anyone know if the BM stores are having Memorial Day sales?
|
Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
i got The Raven and Seeking Justice. Reading the comment or two above, is there a price range of up to 4.99 to qualify for the deal, cuz not all blurays have the stickers 2 for 4 but have notice some times with and others of the same without the sticker so i am curious. i havent had the time to call, and hoping to have the chance before the end of the weekend. I seen a couple that were 4.99 and wouldnt mind checking out is they qualify.

Store #1 (Warren, MI) - They had Cosmopolis in one place labeled 2/$4 and another for $5. I found The Master in a bin with a handful of other titles for $5. I picked up a copy of Frankenweenie on DVD for my g/f's brother and it was tagged $5 but scanned at $3. Store #2 (Sterling Heights, MI) - Found a copy of Frankenweenie on Blu for $5 next to all the DVD's at $5. Also bought Cloud Atlas, Oz tGaP and ParaNorman for $21. You literally have to walk the entire store to locate stuff and then double-check. Prices seem to vary a little from place to place. These two had less 2/$4 selection than my local one. |
Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
I thought Family Video was internet only. Are all the stores on the east coast?
|
Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
ok. thanks for the info.

Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
My local store had a ton of reprinted covers- like really crappy looking- is that normal for them?

Unfortunately yes... i think its for the dvds that come from blurays they rent out, so they technically dont have a case for it, and just print out one for them, cuz they sold the dvds with cases. |
Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
Lots of new markdowns & price changes at my store.... I picked these up yesterday:
Contraband The Ward Christmas Story 2 High School The Raven The Grey Dark Skies The Campaign The Barrens The Sweeney |
Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
No dice at the Battle Creek, MI store.
|
Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
Hit up the St. Clair Shores and Eastpointe, MI stores over the past two days and came up empty at both. Hell, it's hard to scrape up decent 2/$4 DVDs - cheap BDs are almost impossible to find. EXTREMELY YMMV.
|
Re: Family Video - Blu-ray 2 for $4 in store
The inconsistency between stores is crazy. I stopped at one last night that I happened to stumble across and they had a rack stuffed with 2/$10 BDs; a OK selection if you haven't bought much in a year. Today, I was at another store and they didn't have an exclusive sale rack, but in the "Newer Releases" section they had some BDs tagged at $5. Picked up Looper.
