Best Buy Steelbook Sale

My apologies if this has already been posted. This is my first post, but long time visitor.

I went into my local Best Buy yesterday and there was a large display of Blu-Ray Steelbooks for sale. All were $9.99 but one, (looks like amazon has them for the same price) I will list what I remeber below.

Dark Knight Rises ($19.99)*
Sherlock Holmes
Sherlock Holmes- Game of Shadows
Face Off
300
Watchmen
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
Batman (original)
Batman Returns
Chinatown (1974)
V For Vendetta
Gran Torino
Last Samuri
Inception
The Town
The Departed
Goodfellas
Hangover 1
Hangover 2
Journey 1
Journey 2 (The Rock)
Heat
Book of Eli
Gladiator

That's All I can remember, I usually scower this forum and did not see this mentioned and almost picked up these titles at Walmart for 12.96 each, so hopefully this will help someone.

Thanks. Might have to upgrade from my DVD of Chinatown (one of my top-10 all-time favorites)

Re: Best Buy Steelbook Sale

To be honest, I have never seen it! I called one of my friends when I was there to let him know about the sale and to ask which titles I should upgrade, because I couldn't decide. He told me to definetly get Chinatown especially since it was one of the only titles I didn't own. I passed on it for now but may go back and get it.

I purchased:
Watchmen: Two disc (came with bonus features disc)
300: Single Disc
V for Vendetta: Single Disc
Sherlock Holmes- Game of shadows: Single Disc

There was enough room to take the dvd and place it on top of the Blu-Ray and they both clicked in and locked into place. I know alot of people frown on stacking discs. But I would rather have the DVD and blu, just in case. I will be selling the blu-rays of these titles I already own.

Re: Best Buy Steelbook Sale

Given that "Upgrade & Save" is coming back in just a couple of weeks, how long do the shelf tags indicate that the $9.99 price will be effective?

That I'm not sure of. I thought about that myself, I was going to ask an associate but could not find one. I just assumed it was simply for a week. But if that's around for the "UandS" I will probably buy every title.

Re: Best Buy Steelbook Sale

My thoughts exactly. I discovered the sale last night when I dropped by my local store. Problem is, the shelf sale tags no longer say how long the sale price is valid. I snatched Dark Knight Rises (I've been waiting for that one to go cheaper), and if it's still on sale during U & S, maybe I can still get it for less.

If the price online is still $9.99, you can have them price match the website.

If it's still $9.99 online, then it's likely that they'll ring at $9.99 at point of sale in store.

Best Buy has all the Universal Steelbooks Wal-Mart has and more. Notably Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead which WM doesn't have.

I think you're thinking of Paramount (Hunt for Red October, Band of Brothers, etc.)

Re: Best Buy Steelbook Sale

Do these steelbooks have anything extra vs the regular editions.

I got many of these BD in regular case for $5. Do not want to pay extra just for the tin

The extra money is for the tin.

At least the Universal ones come with a DVD and Digital Copy.

However, at least per website Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead (and we'll go ahead and loop in Paul as well) are $14.99. If anybody can confirm that these three in store are $9.99, it would be appreciated. Else, I'm good with waiting for U&S, $10 is about right for these three (especially since I own two of them in regular so to speak).
