You're correct. I forgot that the discount is not site wide like the good ole days.

Although the site is down right at the coupon launch, so some things do remain the same.

Re: DeepDiscountDVD "Big Sale" 25% Off

Has anyone found if Olive titles are eligible? I've tried the code on them and it doesn't seem to work, but DD's site is so wonky that I want someone else to confirm if possible before I give up. If Olive titles are eligible, any that are priced $19.30 and below are a slightly better deal than ImportCDs' 14.43 - 10% + 1.49 shipping = 14.48.

Re: DeepDiscountDVD "Big Sale" 25% Off

Just checked. I had about 50 "maybe for the right price" items in my cart. I applied the coupon and it discounted about 4 of them, taking the total of my cart from about $850 to about $830. So apparently it is a 2.5% sale, not 25%

Oh, and $8 of the total $20 discounted was for a single item, Simpsons season 15. The other 49 items received a total of $12 in discounts when the coupon is applied. And these are not all new releases, in fact most are not.

Yup, no Olive titles in the sale (just as I predicted). The item needs to show a "25% OFF" icon when you search for it.

Nope. No Olive. No Shout/Scream Factory. Welp, there goes my sale. Now to see if importcds has that 10% coupon.

They did have some Shout Factory titles on sale but at the 40% off price point you'd be better off waiting for the importcds sale or bn 40% sale + whatever coupon bn allows you to stack.

Oh yes. It appears that the Shout Factory BD's in my card did receive the discount. But only Rolling Thunder is worth picking up, even with the sale.

Wasn't the free shipping threshold $15 not long ago? It is up to $25 now.

And don't forget, no free shipping at all on box sets or bigger items.

They just keep shooting themselves in the foot.

Gah. I want a 3 disc boxset. It's from Severin so maybe I'll just see how much they discount it during their sale tomorrow.

So it already takes off the discounts & you can't use the codes now? 25more or SUMMER13 isn't working for me at all....

I might pick up the BD of Keaton's College for $17 if I can find something to pair it with. Otherwise it looks like I'll be sitting this sale out.

I ordered a couple of items that I saved a few dollars on. If this worked like past sales/pricing it could have easily been a 30 title/$hundreds order.

Took a look. There wasn't one thing that wasn't cheaper at either B&N right now or at ImportCDs (even with the extra $1.50 ship per title).

Even the upcoming BD of Dirty Mary.../Race With The Devil was several bucks cheaper a month ago for that one day sale.

Re: DeepDiscountDVD "Big Sale" 25% Off

I can't get any deals going. In comparing the single Blu title of the Lon Chaney silent film THE PENALTY on Blu from KINO I'm coming up with pretty much the same price across the spectrum: Amazon, DeepDiscount, Half, Ebay, B&N, ImportCDs. The trouble is that once you figure in all the variables, which for me include that m.f. tax for each one of those places except Half and Ebay, it all starts to approach $20 and I'm not paying that much for that title.

In other words, my dog shits out better sales than this one. And I don't even have a dog.

There are still some deals to be had on Warner Archive and other BOD titles.

Count me among those who got really excited about the bi annual DD sales and would spend or $100 or so each time. It's been a few years since I've ordered from them because their prices suck now. Hell I'm surprised they've managed to stay afloat.

Waiting for someone to sue them for false advertising, given their name is "Deep Discount". They should change their name if they can't live up to it anymore.

Like any online retailer, they sometimes have good deals and sometimes don't. I've gotten some pretty killer deals there even in the last year (the Star Trek TOS series for one, others that were even better ). These sales have never been that great for me, but I agree that they are almost worthless now. Limiting which titles can be discounted, raising prices -- I don't see them being around too much longer. That little PH surcharge for sets is ridiculous and makes me madder than about anything else they've done lately. I would regret them going under though. Except for Amazon, there is really no other exclusively online retailer I buy from on even a semi-regular basis. BBY gets most of my money these days. At one time it was Deep Discount and later Big Lots. Oh well, c'est la vie.

Re: DeepDiscountDVD "Big Sale" 25% Off

The main thing that's changed between the time when DD had great sales and now is a precipitous decline in consumption of physical media. It just doesn't make sense anymore to run a company whose primary goods are CDs, DVDs, and blu-rays. It's really not DD's fault except to the extent that they did not diversify their offerings and dove head-first into physical media.

There are some very good deals on anime Blu-rays, such as Ninja Scroll and some of the Sentai releases.
