Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save 4/21/13 - 5/11/13

Picked up Seven, Eyes Wide Shut, and the LA Confidential/BodyHeat/The Player combo all for 18 bucks after the trade ins. Great deals!

It really does suck though, how in Manhattan there are so many Best Buy locations and yet all of their media selects are dwindling. The amount of shelf space for certain titles is ridiculous. I.E. Taken 2 and Total Recall should really be on clearance — it looks embarrassing!

Have people been finding The Sandlot ($9.99) in stores? Right now, it is looking like just Willow for me this week based on what is showing as in-stock in my local BB.

I picked up Ted for 14.99. Wife has been bugging me to get it for a while, and as best as I can tell this is the cheapest it's been.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save 4/21/13 - 5/11/13

For anyone interested, the BR/DVD of Veep: Season One is still 19.99, so I managed to get that for $14.99 today. Also snagged The Perks of Being a Wallflower, which was tagged $16.99 but rang up for $19.99. Finally manged to get it for $11.99 after about 10 manager overrides because it kept taking the $5.00 off the $20 price. They also had copies of Minority Report tagged for $9.99, but that was having the same price override issue (it was ringing up $12.99), so I ended up not getting it because I felt so bad for the girl waiting on me. But something for others to keep an eye on. I may try again later in the week.

Picked up:
Django BB exclusive $20
Hotel Transylvania 3D $15
Green Lantern 3D $10
Space Jam $5
Skyline $5

I don't know how they're handling it other BBs, but they only gave me one coupon and wrote "5 for" on it. What do you do if you don't do all five at once or want to go to another store? Or, do you just don't?

I couldn't even find a fifth title to get. I think that's a first for me. We have a couple weeks, so I'm sure I'll find a use for the last coupon
That's why I never get too excited over these anymore. I brought in 3 yesterday and actually found three titles to upgrade which was a first. But two of what I bought were DVD upgrades so I have two more to bring in. I'm sure I'll have trouble finding two more since they didn't have much inventory. These days I think I'm further ahead just giving old ones to my parents and upgrading when a good deal comes along.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save 4/21/13 - 5/11/13

I brought in 5 DVDs yesterday. 4 Nightmare on Elm Street movies (recently upgraded to the BD set) and Step Up 2 (also recently upgraded)

I had a hard time finding anything worthwhile with replay value. Plus it doesn't help that my local BB's shelves are quite empty.

I used 3 coupons and got:

16 Blocks/Last Boy Scout/Last Man Standing: $6.99

Police Story/Police Story 2: $11.99

You've Got Mail: $4.99 (still own my old 1998 DVD, figured it was time to upgrade)

Not sure what else I really want.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save 4/21/13 - 5/11/13

Trading in your DVD's before you look at the blus is a waste of time. Walk in with your DVD's (if you get hassled at all by the guy at the front door, he can put a sticker on them that shows they're yours), pick out your blu's, walk to customer service, and do the exchange and purchase in one transaction. That way you don't have to wait in line twice, and you don't trade in anything that you you can't find a blu to replace it with.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save 4/21/13 - 5/11/13

Does anyone think the Quentin Tarantino collection will drop below $50 later this year?

I saw it's on sale for $79.99 and with the coupon it's $74.99 and that still seems kind of expensive. I like his movies and want to get them on BD in this set, but that's a little more than I really want to spend.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save 4/21/13 - 5/11/13

I traded in 5 titles, then bought:
I got Willow, with slipcover (7.99), Silent Hill 2 3D (14.99), Coyote Ugly (4.99), and The Sitter (4.99)
I purposely only bought 4, hoping that I’d get my receipt back, unmarked, with the last coupon. Sure did!!! So now I can get 5 more! I turned my 5 into 9!

I also picked up Willow ($7.99) no slip though, Blade Runner Final Cut ($4.99), Breakfast at Tiffany's ($4.99), A History of Violence/American History X ($4.99).

I also lucked out and bought only four and got the receipt back unmarked with the last coupon as well. So yeah, I also traded in 5 and got 9 in return too.

I was shocked at how well stocked this BB was. I think out of my list only 3 or 4 titles weren't there. They had close to 20 copies of the Raid at this location. I came really close to picking up Body Heat/LA Confidential/The Player triple pack but I already have a standalone edition of LA Confidential.

If you don't care about the packaging, I feel like some thrifty shipping could get you most of those titles for $5 each. I think I saw 6 or 7 of the titles from that set at BB for $9.99 each this week.
