I had a similar problem with a copy of "Paul" that had Oblivion Movie Cash. The computer didn't deduct the U&S coupon, but I was able to get $5 credited to my debit card.

Also, in the matter of "what will they accept for a trade-in", I was able to trade in a Shrek sampler from a Cheerios box that came in a paper sleeve and not an amaray case. The clerk asked a manager and he accepted it.

I went today at the Union Square store in NYC and the media section is tiny now. I talked with an employee and he said they cut it down by 1/3 about a week ago. Picked up Attack the Block as I wasn't able to find it during the last sale and had them order the Dragon Dynasty Triple Feature: Jet LI Collection. Both were $5 plus tax each after trade-in. I haven't picked up any Dragon Dynasty blu-rays yet due to initial negative reviews of them, but these three seem to be at least decent and for ~$1.66 a movie, hard to pass up.

I've had this customer service cashier handle many U&S orders in the past. This was clearly a case of the computer rejecting the combined offers. When she mentioned the total, I immediately knew it was about $5 too much, so I questioned it. She grabbed the U&S voucher she had used to scan and started reading the restrictions and mentioned it looks to be restricting the combined deal. I have complete confidence in the gal, as I've never had a past issue with her before. This looks to be a YMMV—if you can find a cashier willing to override the computer to allow both, but even then, you'd need a manger to approve it. I may give it a second attempt at a different location later this week.

Mine reduced inventory months ago to a fraction of what they carried, yet they still haven't reduced the shelf space. So entire shelves sit there bare. If they are going to reduce it, they should spread out other stuff so it doesn't look so ridiculous

The Union Square store had already reduced space one before. They are now at a bit less than half the DVD/Blu inventory they used to carry when they opened just a few years ago. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they stopped with media alltogether except for new releases in the near future.

I almost feel guilty saying this considering how much trouble some you have to go through, but once again the store closest to me was right on the ball. Traded in five kids dvds that my boys never watch anymore and had no trouble at customer service or at checkout. My haul this time:

I can see myself buying Silent Hill Revelation 3D, but I'm still hoping that we get some better sale prices. I was hoping to pick up a couple of 3D films, and I'm hoping that Zero Dark Thirty and Django Unchained end up getting some decent sale prices. Regardless, I know I'll be able to find some things worth buying.

So I go over to Customer Service and get a Geek Squad checker, while going through my trade ins she is very talkative and friendly "Goonies ?!? Awesome!" then she gets to Femalien and goes silent. After going through the rest of the stack in silence she turns to another employee and says "Are their rules for what can be traded in?" THen flips through the pile and and shows him Femalian. So I wait there for awhile while they make meaningful eye contact and then finally go over the rules of the promotion "you can trade in an dvd...yada yada ... except pornography, of which this is not." He says "Yeah he's right" and then goes back to his customer who is also staring at us. what follows was a quick checkout where she apologized saying she wasn't used to dealing with customers?

The whole thing was really offputting.

But she did put the trade in receipt in my bag and all 4 trade in coupons so at least 8 discounts are free.

Anyone know how much longer the $14.99 to $19.99, 3D BR combos on sale last week will remain on sale? There are several titles I'd like to pick up and a few I'd be willing to double dip on with upgrade pricing (Coraline, Pirates, Despicable Me, etc).

I thought they would be off sale today, but when I stopped at the nearest BB today they were still on sale. Had a lot of errands and was rushing around all day, so I forgot to bring any DVDs... or check the sale date on those 3D BRs.

Was amazed that I went yesterday morning, was the second person in line at customer service and the first to do U&S...and they knew what was going on! It took a couple minutes as she had to check on something, but the coupons were already out and I didn't get a confused look about upgrade & save, so I was pleasantly surprised.
But then I went to look for stuff to get. I brought it 5 DVDs, and could barely find 4 things I wanted. I had a few things on my list that they didn't have, including The Mask/Dumb & Dumber which was just recently in a stand, but I guess they took the stand down and were either sold out of it or sent them back. So I got the following for about $5 total after U&S and $20 RZ cert:

Braveheart
Grease
Ever After/Never Been Kissed

I couldn't even find a fifth title to get. I think that's a first for me. We have a couple weeks, so I'm sure I'll find a use for the last coupon

It was on my receipt as $15 after U&S, the sticker said $20 on the case as well. Now, if they went and changed it in the night, I'm not sure but at least I was lucky yesterday.
