I guess you are talking about the +$5 edition with the figure?

Otherwise, it is already $14.99

Wow, some pretty decent titles. The Freddy/Nightmare one is Out of Print and I see some of the new ones. Too bad they are $14.99...I'll wait for them to drop to $10 again.

I had no idea there was a cheaper version without the figure. Thanks.

Deliverance (digi-book) is $19.99. Got it for $9.99 with U&S & RZ certificate.

They also had an Oscar Best Picture Five Film Collection for $19.99. Looks like former Miramax Oscar winners.

Picked up Smoking Aces 1&2, and Clint Eastwood Ape movies for $4.99 after U&S. Triple packs and steel books had gone up in price to 19.99 at the Irving Tx BB.

I was going to head over today and get the few steels that I was looking at, but didn't know they were on sale.. but after hearing this, I'll be not going to best buy.

It's from Lionsgate. The Miramax titles are pretty much split between Lionsgate and EB, with Lionsgate getting most of the higher tier titles.

Re: Upgrade and Save coming back! 1/13 - 2/2

Picked up Ted, Friends with Benifits, and something else I can't remember yesterday for $25. My wife was with me and she said "wow that's a good deal" followed by "well I wonder how much you originally spent on the DVD's?"

Still looking for American Beauty and LA Confidential. Sad that I have DVD's in my car just in case I go by a Best Buy.

Columbia, MD. Not one to be found although it could be the wacky order they're putting things in now but I assume it should be in Drama?

Yeah, although I've seen it on those showcase type section racks they have throughout the movie sections. But, every store is different.

And don't buy it without the slipcover, unless you gotta have it.

On a sidenote, I picked up Yes Man and it rang up $4.99 so I got to save the coupon.

Not sure if you guys knew about it or not.
If a manager does a price override, he must almost override the amount of the U&S coupon. U&S coupons don't work on items that PM'd.

Before the 1st U&S, when they had a 5 off 14.99, the coupon would work with the price overrides. That's how I got Rockey BD set for 17.99. Didn't know if I had waited 2 years, it would have been the same price again

Re: Upgrade and Save coming back! 1/13 - 2/2

I just got back from doing the cell phone upgrade thing for another coupon. I picked up Ice Age 4 3D with the Christmas bonus disc for $15. It was in the slot with the other normal Ice Age 4 3D releases, but it came up at $25 instead of $20. I told them it was in the same slot, and I was ultimately able to get it for $15 after the coupon. First they edited the price to $20, but it wouldn't take the coupon after the manual price change, so they had to do it all again. Anyway, I left happy.

On a different topic, sorta, do any of you guys think like me in that Best Buy just stinks of desperation lately? With the Upgrade & Save, cell phone upgrade, and then the electronic trade ins for even more gift cards and stuff and then on top of that the entire thing with the bonus Reward Zone points. I dunno, it just seems very weird to me.

^ Yep, I do. Amazon is kicking their ass. I think they will start to close more stores. Hopefully none near me, but I think it is inevitable. My area has 5 stores. 3 have been there since the beginning, but two are fairly new. One of the original stores closed a few years ago. The new stores always seem dead when I go. They are the best stores for finding hard to find titles cuz it seems like nobody shops there. I expect those stores to close.

It's almost as if they are, ummm, giving us TOO much? I've seen business after business do this sort of thing only to ultimately go out of business. I'm not saying they are, right now at least, but still.

I don't think they are giving too much. It's their lousy business practices. They do not and have never cared about the customer.
I rarely shop there basted on their lousy practices, and there are many times where I walked in with an intention of buying something, but either their bickering over a misplaced sale sign, or expired sign, or having damaged copies, or having instore pickup option picking the wrong item, or not at all and wasting a trip. I'm sorry. They need to evolve to get out of the business.

I think they are. I feel like I am picking over the bones of a not, but nearly dead animal.

My local store never seems to awfully busy, but they are extremely slow. That could be a good reason why. But I'm sure there are other things factoring in as well. It is a fairly new store having only been there a few years in a very busy shopping center. But ppl in this area don't seem to care for them.

But who am I to talk, the only reason I go in is for the media sections(movies & occasional cd's or games).

Re: Upgrade and Save coming back! 1/13 - 2/2

Well it does seem like an act of desperation. In reality, most of those blu rays have a regular price that is astronomical. I think the days of the uninformed consumer are just about gone. Blu rays aren't for the "casual" movie watcher. Anyone paying $29.99 for a single blu ray is clueless. I don't know how feasible the used market is to increase profitability so I don't think that is the purpose. My guess is that they are trying to show strong sales to investors and the $5 off coupon isn't factored into the equation. So they show the numbers and everyone breathes a sigh of relief. However, the ship continues to sink.

While we are complaining about Best Buy, what is up with their kiosks? For the past few months, anytime I look up an item on the kiosk the part at the top of the screen that says if the store has the item or not never works. It just sits there like it is loading but never stops. And this is at all Best Buy stores I go to, not just 1 in particular.
