Boxing Day 2012 - Canada Deals

The Wal-Mart flyer is out and to say I'm dissapointed would be an understatement:

The Day After Tomorrow - $5
The Usual Suspects - $5
Ocean's Thirteen - $5
Boondock Saints - $7
Justin Bieber Never Say Never - $7
Transformers 3 - $7
Magic Mike - $10
The Lucky One - $10
Captain America - $10
Total Recall (remaster) - $10
Chronical - $10
MI Ghost Protocol - $10
Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter - $15
21 Jump Street - $15
Avatar 3D - $25
I, Robot 3D- $25
Prometheus 3D - $25
Ice Age Continental Drift 3D - $25
Brave (seems to be the non-3D version)- $25

The flyer mentions different deals also in stores, and of course has some SD deals as well.

Uhm... I don't know how to tell you this, but this is AMERICA. If we wanted to celebrate crazy made up holidays with our neighboring countries, we'd celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

All holidays were made up! Besides, I'm sure there are plenty of Canadian's on the forum so why discriminate?

Why celebrate a made up holiday like Boxing Day (which dates back to the middle ages) when we could celebrate a real holiday like Black Friday (which dates back 50 or so years) or Cyber Monday (which is less than ten years old)!

Re: Boxing Day 2012 - Canada Deals

From the Future Shop flyer:

Super 8 Combo - $7.99
Transformers 3 Combo - 7.99
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - 9.99 (has been this price at Walmart for over two months now)
Wrath of the Titans - 9.99 (2D)
Indiana Jones Collection - $39.99
Lord of the Rings Extended Collection - 39.99
Hugo 3D - 16.99
Tintin 3D - 16.99
Avatar 3D - 19.99
Prometheus 3D - 19.99

4.99:
Entrapment
Speed
Rocky balboa
Transporter 2
Ocean's 13

7.99
Goonies
Iron Man
300
District 9
Dark knight

9.99
X-Men First Class
Drive
The Crow
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Harry Potter 8
Chuck Seasons 1-4 - 9.99 ea.

Plus "over 150 to choose from" which presumably means the standard batches of titles that have already been dropped to this price range at various times throughout the year. . Not much comparison to the Black Friday sales, but for those without border access, there might be some decent deals up here.

Re: Boxing Day 2012 - Canada Deals

At Future Shop I just picked up Jaws for $12.99 on Blu-ray complete with the slipcase. It was advertised on their website but there was no indication of it being on sale in the store. They had three copies in the regular section with a $22.95 price on the shelf tag. In their computer it was $12.99!

I also got Raging Bull for $6.99 (DVD combo) and Showgirls for $4.99 - gotta buy it at that price!

Amazon.ca's got some halfways decent Boxing Week specials on at the moment. Lots of $4.99 (mostly Warner catalog stuff) and $6.99 Blu-rays (Bonds, among others) which generally match the same titles at Future Shop, Best Buy, Superstore, etc.) plus:

$9.99
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4 (Combo)
CAPTAIN AMERICA (Combo)
DARK SHADOWS (Combo)
X-MEN FIRST CLASS (Combo)
