Assume that all of these are available to all customers unless specifically listed as member only like the Welcome Package. Also remember that any preliminary codes are just that and BN could pull it, change the details or exclusions anything prior to release so always a bit of YMMV until the final release date

Mini FAQ
Coupons should not work for PREORDERS , Nook, Legos, Rosetta Stone, Digital, Gift Cards, Memberships, etc. There are glitches where sometimes an excluded item will be allowed but assume that is the exception to the rule

re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Although not as good as the 50% off flash sale that Criterion wass running (I think it has expired now), amazon is running a 41% sale.

For a limited time only, save up to 40% on over 800 classic and contemporary films from the Criterion Collection.

Considering that's about the price I've been getting the majority of my Criterion titles for, anything above $19.99 is not a sale to me, unless it's a compilation or something of the sort.

Absolutely, you know they'll be at that sale price eventually, through one seller or another and you won't have to wait all that long. That's why I didn't bite at the Criterion site sale, -I didn't want to buy three at one time to get the free shipping (and I was apparently going to get what most everybody else was getting and they'd have sold out before I could place an order).

Agreed, it's why I put quotes around the word sale.

re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Sales on horror movies seem kind of lacking this year. A lot of the titles are the same things out year long for the same price or close to the same. Not just Amazon either, I noticed my Walmart for instance doesn't even have any horror films on Blu-ray (minus the titles in the dump bin).

re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Don't know if these were cheaper at pre-order, or if Scream Factory will have them even lower in their ongoing October daily price drops, but just in case:

All $17.99:
PRINCE OF DARKNESS
THEY LIVE (has been this price previously)
THE FOG
PSYCHO 2
FROM BEYOND (was $15.99 on Scream's site a couple of days ago)

Great price on Prince of Darkness! Especially after my amazon discount & no tax, much better deal than I would probably get from Scream Factory's October sale.

Nobody knows for sure, but the general thinking is that new releases, -and POD is considered a new release, - won't be part of Scream's sale.

Most of the more niche horror titles are now being released by third-party distributors like Scream Factory, which don't heavily discount their releases...ever. As I've said in another thread, we are paying about a $5 to $7 premium since they act as a middleman between the owning studio.

That part I'm fine with personally. Scream Factory does a really good job with the releases they do so I actually don't mind paying a bit more for those once in a while. To get a lot of the titles they put out in good quality and with extras is way more than we'd come to expect from the bigger studios who would likely just plop the film on a disc and do as little as they can in the way of extras. Scream Factory is almost like the Criterion of B Movies and Horror Movies.

I just mean in the past it seems like there's been more stuff on sale than there is this year. Maybe Amazon will put some stuff on sale a bit better closer to Halloween or something. As far as the big box retailers though it's been a total disappointment this year. As I said before Walmart had no horror films on Blu-ray that aren't new releases or the same stuff that's always in their bin and Target has a small endcap of titles that are mostly DVD's and a few Blu-ray's (I think mine had Carrie, Hannibal, and something else I don't remember). Those are the main two I rely on because my town doesn't have a Best Buy or any other place that really sells much.

Amazon has matched Best Buy's $9.99 price for the 1958 version of The Fly.

re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I would have bought a few of those from Amazon if I hadn't bought them directly from Shout Factory as part of their daily deals. Oh, well. I suppose paying a couple bucks more isn't so bad when it's going directly to a company like Shout.
