Is it really worth the upgrade? Is there anything NOT included, which was on the 3-disc? It's in my goldbox as well...

I look forward to seeing your list! I love the idea of a complete set of Criterion Blus although as you say they are not for everyone's tastes. But the variety and challenge of subject matter is very appealing to me.

can't wait until these sales are over now that I got everything I wanted, I need to sell a ton of Criterion blu-rays I no longer need/want and the sale prices are killing the used prices.

Re: Criterion sale at bestbuy.com & amazon

Amazon has always had 45% off Criterions the first part of December which obviously kills re-sellers trying to quickly unload stuff they picked up from Barnes & Noble. I've learned to adjust my expectations that Criterions won't have 'healthy' re-sale values until January.

This is the first year Amazon's dropped them down to $17.99 - obviously in response to Best Buy...which makes you wonder if Best Buy will become a regular twice-a-year 1/2 off Criterions...

If this is the case, and Amazon price-matches, I'm done with B & N for good. Of course, Best Buy (like B & N) probably won't be around more than a few more years, but it'll be nice to get some healthy discounts in the meantime.

My 3-disc set is non-anamorphic. I'm happy to upgrade.

Does anyone know when this sale ends? I'm hoping the Quatsi trilogy gets reduced to 58% off like the other titles.

Well it at least runs through today on Best Buy. I ordered Brazil this morning for 20.99, and I'm picking it up in a bit. Great price.

Re: Criterion sale at bestbuy.com & amazon

Amazon finally dropped the price on Heaven's Gate to $27 which is the price I had on BN.com as a pre-order during their 50% off sale.

BN still has not shipped it, and it released three weeks ago. Way to go, BN. Now you lost my business in favor of Amazon.

Anyone think these aren't actually factory sealed? I got a few without the blue sticker and a sealed plastic that didn't look like the usual Criterion sealed case.

The photo galleries (script development and promotional stills) were dropped. Over 600 images in all are omitted on the blu-ray, but that wasn't enough for me to hang on to my DVD box set (I had the 2006 reissue). I sold it for $20, making the upgrade to blu-ray only a couple bucks. I think I originally purchased the DVD set for $25, so I'm now out about $27 on this movie to date. It's one of my favorites, so I'm happy to finally own it in high-def.

Re: Criterion sale at bestbuy.com & amazon

The prices at Best Buy are now normal price, but most of them are still on sale at Amazon. If there are any you have been thinking on buying at Amazon in this sale, you better jump on it ASAP. Just a heads up.

Re: Criterion sale at bestbuy.com & amazon

Yeah, Amazon prices often flip on Sundays or Tuesdays so I bought a few more yesterday. Island of Lost Souls will be a blind-buy for me (and for my brother-in-law's Christmas present) based on the recommendations here. Most of the others I've been thinking about for a while, but my bleeding wallet needs me to stop now.

A number of them are still at the lower price, for whatever it's worth. There is still time to get a few orders in on some of them.
