Re: Your Black Friday Week 2012 Hauls
I'm too lazy to add up the financial numbers, but my haul of 72 titles this year is considerably less than my 88 titles last year. But many of my titles this year were box sets (Bond 50, Sherlock Holmes, Hitchcock, Universal Monsters, Lethal Weapon collection, and The Thin Man) so movie-wise, I guess I bought more... I'm just glad it's done. Now I need to stop looking for deals, and starting WATCHING what I own... Tonight I failed. I'm watching TV...

Re: Your Black Friday Week 2012 Hauls
If anyone is having any remorse of buying items, feel free to PM me with what you have to sell. Black Friday sucked for me and only got a handful of deals and same with Cyber Monday. Just been way too busy to shop. Did get a few deals like WWE 12 for PS3, a Kindle Fire, Shutter Island, 21 Jump Street, Super 8, Avatar, Thor, and a few other titles. But I'd love to expand my collection if anyone has anything they just bought and now thinking they don't really need.

I tried to get this the day after you posted, but it was no longer on sale. I hope you bought something else for around $3 so you could get that $10 off next purchase promo.

Re: Your Black Friday Week 2012 Hauls
Well, here's the final haul for me--everything purchased last week and the last two days. Stuff is starting to arrive; I got two packages yesterday and looks like around half a dozen more will arrive today.
Tracking shows that one of my orders got sent to the wrong local post office on Saturday; the updated delivery date was yesterday but so far nothing. Hope it shows up soon. This year started slowly for me; I didn't buy anything until Wednesday but ultimately I think I made out pretty well. All are BD unless indicated otherwise, and items that will be gifted are so marked: Amazon: 3 Women (Criterion Collection) $17.99 Barbarella $10.29 Brave $8.96 GIFT Dolphin Tale (DVD) $4.96 GIFT Harvey BD/DVD/DC $12.99 Hatfields and McCoys $9.99 Last of the Mohicans $3.96 Shameless Season 1 $23.49 The Sound of Music $19.99 Stagecoach (Criterion Collection) $17.99 The Caine Mutiny $4.99 (used $5 off $25 promo; purchased with TSOM) Kirsty MacColl--Desperate Character (CD) $7.29 (Marketplace) Van Morrison--Born to Sing: No Plan B (CD) $6.99 Kindle Fire $129.00 (x2; used $30 off Cyber Monday promo on two separate accounts) GIFTS (I'm aware there was a $4.99 lightning deal on the Van Morrison on Black Friday, but I was at a funeral during that time and not able to access the site). B&N.com: The Battle of Algiers (Criterion Collection) $17.49 (combined sale price with 30% off coupon) BestBuy.com: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen $9.99 The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo $0.00 (BOGO) Rome First Season $16.99 Rome Second Season $16.99 |

Though my expenditures seem pretty high, I plan for this year all year long. Almost all my Amazon and Wal-mart purchases were made with credit. I still spent a lot. But selling off single seasons of complete sets and BD upgrades, some of that will be recouped. At least that's what I keep telling myself. |

Good memory. Possible gift for a close friend. He's a Bond freak, but doesn't actually have a BD player yet. I just couldn't pass that deal up. I was so sad I paid $48 more from CH... I did sell off most of my individual Bond BD's which recouped over $100. I'm keeping the 2-disc Casino Royale cuz of the 2nd disc. I have 3 titles remaining, but 2 are sealed so may be easier to get rid of...
I regret not pulling the trigger on this. I saw it early morning and was going to make my decision later in the day. Amazon puts stuff in the shipping stage so damn fast. Even if I had used an account in which I don't have PRIME, it would have shipped within an hour of placing the order. I have a few bonds on BD, all of them on DVD, but I've not watched about 2/3 of the franchise. Not a HUGE Bond fan, but do enjoy most of what I've seen. Of course I snoozed. If this set does not go OOP, then I'm sure a similar deal will come around again. Sony seems to deep discount their stuff all the time. I was hoping BBY would do the deal as well, but apart from the initial wave of discounts, BBY has been pretty quiet. |

Since everyone who's posted in this thread has proven their ability to keep track of things and owns a substantial pile of unwatched BDs/DVDs, you should challenge yourself to actually watch what you bought. :D
You've probably skipped over the monthly unwatched pile threads, but I would encourage you to give it a shot--tracking your progress watching/buying on a monthly basis with the goal to work through those yet-to-see discs. Here's December's thread: Link |
Re: Your Black Friday Week 2012 Hauls
Late to the party, but I snagged:
Walmart $3.96 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy $3.96 Jennifer's Body Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy I went mostly because the ad showed Die Another Day in their $3.96 assortment and I hoped that portended other Bond titles. Alas, the only other one was Goldfinger, which I already had. I also hoped to find Brave on Blu-ray/DVD for my niece; it was advertised at $8.96. Those were long gone when I got there around 8:15 Thursday night but I discovered that their regular stock of the title in the electronics department also rang up at that price when I was there Friday night so I was able to snag that for her. I also bought her Flicka on DVD for $1.96 and Transformers: Dark of the Moon on DVD for $5 for my nephew. EDIT TO ADD: When I purchased the gifts, I also treated myself to the CD single of Adele's "Skyfall" for $1.96. Amazon $14.96 Transformers: Dark of the Moon Limited 3D Edition Also bought Johnny Cash's American Recordings and American III: Solitary Man CDs. Used $10.82 Amazon credit, paid $16 and change out of pocket for the whole order Local Consignment Shop I needed a tree skirt so I checked a local consignment shop, where I found one for $2. They also had White Christmas on DVD, with slipcover, for $2.25 after the 25% off sale. Also, my birthday is 12/1 and on the way home I stopped by Walmart because I needed Tylenol. I found a stray copy of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Triple Feature Blu-ray still showing up as a Black Friday promo for $9. I treated myself to that. |
Re: Your Black Friday Week 2012 Hauls
Despite reserving a first page post I just now finished collating my list.
So I thought I would do a post bump as well Spoiler:

I've accepted it and don't really want to chart my failure in actually using the discs for the purpose in which they were made. Thanks anyway ;) |
Re: Your Black Friday Week 2012 Hauls
Here are my November hauls including Black Friday of course ;)
And no no I don't usually buy this many movies each month, I went on a movie purchasing diet on October :P http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...bf_blurays.jpg |
Re: Your Black Friday Week 2012 Hauls
^ Did you strategically arrange those, or just dump em on the floor?
I can actually make all of em out but one (the yellow one under the mary pickford collection). Is it a DVD season of It's Always Sunny in Philly? |
