LOTR Extended at Target

Just hit the neighborhood Target to pick up White Collar S3 ($8, dvds), when something else caught my eye. Lord of the Rings Extended Ed. individual Blu Rays for $10, with "up to" $5 discount on Hobbit tickets through 12-30. Assuming you're going to the Hobbit with at least three people (as I am), that could get you the LOTR Extended blu rays for c. $15. Not sure what the fine print is on the ticket deal.

These 2 disk sets don't include the extras. But for me that's OK, since I believe they're on DVDs anyway, and I have the Extended DVD sets.

They weren't in the regular DVD/blu ray section, but in cardboard displays in women's accessories, or whatever. You may need to ask where you'll find them.

Re: LOTR Extended at Target

Please explain how you're getting all 3 movies for $15 when you're still spending $30 to get them.

Re: LOTR Extended at Target

Are these Target exclusive versions, and if so, when did they come out?

I'm pleasantly surprised to hear there are versions that don't include all the extras for a lower price, since so many probably have those extras in the four-disc DVD sets already.

He's counting the $15 he would save on buying 3 tickets to The Hobbit.

Exactly right. Fifteen bucks less that I have to pay to go see The Hobbit with my wife and sister-in-law--which I was going to do anyway.

Was at Target this morning and didn't see them, but I saw the E.T steelbook for $15 & picked one up:

Re: LOTR Extended at Target

So you got the sets for $30 and you are saving $15 on the movie tickets

Re: LOTR Extended at Target

These were not in the movie section at my Target ... they were in a special display in the middle of the store, next to the clothing section (similar to Black Friday). Two big cardboard displays of $5, $10 and $15 titles.

Time to head to Target... lots of good stuff.

Austin Powers 3-movie pack - $9.99
Brave (Digibook) - $15.00
Cabin in the Woods - $8.00
Lord of the Rings Extended singles - $30.00

Less 5% Redcard + extra 5% coupon = $56.84 out the door in Sales Tax free Oregon. Sweet Black Friday deals!

The Brave blu-ray digibook is also on sale for $15? I knew Cinderella was, but not this one.

I wish I could confirm but this was sold out at my local Target. I picked up the Blu-ray 2-disc regular set for $13.53 after Redcard and extra 5% off. If I don't score one of the $9 deals over the weekend, I'm okay with that deal.

Picked up the three Extended LotR sets. With the Hobbit cash, that's a nice deal. I already have the previous DVD sets... so this is the perfect upgrade at a decent price.

Re: LOTR Extended at Target

Damn, tough call. Great price to get the set for 15 bucks (because I definitely will be buying 3 tickets to The Hobbit) but I have been waiting on the big edition to drop to $30. The only thing is...will I ever actually watch all those extras? I had them for numerous years before I sold my DVD set and never watched a stitch of them.

Decision, decisions.

The extra 5% off coupons are from Pharmacy rewards. Every so many prescriptions paid for with a Red Card = 5% extra off coupon.

Re: LOTR Extended at Target

Went back to my local Target today in hopes a display with the LOTR films would be out. Lucky for me, they had it out.

Thanks for the OP for the tip!

Well, I scoured the movie section at two different local Targets and couldn't find these. Anyone in the STL area have better luck than me?

They didn't have them in the movie section. They were in cardbord displays for BF that were usually setup somewhere on an aisle by the clothes.

Scoured that display at one of the two aforementioned Targets with no luck this morning. Maybe they all got snagged on Black Friday. The other Target I went to earlier this week didn't have that display, or if it did, I missed it.
