I got in on Safe House--now to decide whether it's worth half a Criterion to buy it

I logged in at 6:18 and kept refreshing, just in case my computer and Amazon's clock were off. It didn't change over to the new price until 6:20 and then it was too late.

I have to piss like a racehorse but I'm sitting here waiting in case some one decides not to go through with the purchase in the first fifteen minutes!

EDIT: And the bladder damage pays off! In for one!

Hadn't realized Colombiana was a Luc Besson film - would have jumped on it. I wasn't aware his stuff was getting US releases (I've had to get Angel-A and Adele Blanc-Sec from Amazon UK). --Peter

Seems to be directed by his B-Team director, Olivier Megaton (Taken 2, Transporter 3). Besson is a blind buy for me when he directs, but if it is just a writing or producing credit, I'm more discerning.

Glad Amazon offered Sherlock Holmes at the original offered price. Glad I got one.

Got in on Colombiana and Safe House. I got to the computer about two minutes before the deals switched over.

I have to call it quits at this point.

Out of curiosity, I clicked to join the waitlist and it also went directly into my cart.

Not being interested, I just removed it again, so it looks like it is still available...

He should be very proud he didn't act like that. It's a rare trait in the average male these days.

I was # 380 something on the waitlist for Sherlock with my chances being "poor". Just got offered it and bought.

I wonder how many copies were set aside to be sold?

Re: Amazon Black Friday Week Lightning Deals Calender - 2012 Ed.

I thought I was out, but Sherlock pulled me back in. I tried to Waitlist it and it went directly into my cart and figured it was too good of a price to pass up. A complete blind buy, but it seems interesting and if I really hate it I could probably recoup most of the price on the secondhand market.

Re: Amazon Black Friday Week Lightning Deals Calender - 2012 Ed.

On Cyber Monday 2011 I seem to recall lots of deals that kept me super busy. I think there were lightning deals on Amazon, Target.com had DVDs and BDs at huge discounts (back when I didn't have a Red Card), and Chase Rewards had a large discount on top of existing discounts at Best Buy. The demand was so intense that Chase Rewards was all but shut down.

This Cyber Monday I didn't see 1 single deal here, on Slickdeals or any other deals site I checked that interested me at all. Maybe I should've jumped at the Sherlock Holmes BD collection today, as I do realize they are well done movies, but I'm just not into slow B&W movies that much. So I bought nothing today.

Here's my question: Did I miss the great Cyber Monday deals today or were there pretty much no great deals for movies or games (besides Amazon's few lightning deals which one can argue how good of deals they were)? It seems to me the best online deals were on Thanksgiving, so Cyber Monday became a non-event being effectively moved to Thanksgiving instead. Am I right?

I agree. Cyber Monday was a non-event EVERYWHERE this year. Everything happened last week. Even the computer sites like newegg didn't have any good deals for cyber monday.

I feel like Cyber Monday has never really been much of anything, more hype than delivery.

Re: Amazon Black Friday Week Lightning Deals Calender - 2012 Ed.

It seems the onslaught of lower prices that started on Thanksgiving Day dulled the impact of Cyber Monday. I think I bought more shit on Thanksgiving, BF, and this past weekend, that very little interested me today. That and the fact there was nothing I wanted that I didn't purchase recently.

Re: Amazon Black Friday Week Lightning Deals Calender - 2012 Ed.

I did actually find a LOT of non-BD deals today. I placed several orders today. Typically Cyber Monday is slow for me, since I've already shopped til I dropped by that point. I guess I still had money left this year.

I'd rather have gotten John than Sherlock.

I assume that Indiana Jones $29.99 blu-ray deal will never happen unless post Christmas or sometime in mid or late 2013.
