Some of their classic/catalog store exclusives like the Marilyns, the Bonds, Mad,Mad World, Porky's, Fish Called Wanda etc. Would've been nice.

Surprisingly the Walmart crowd isn't looking for criterion collection films. Walmart is just about the definition of mainstream. Loss leaders should be as mainstream as possible.

Re: WalMart Black Friday Ad 2012

A couple of years ago my g/f and I tried going to Wallyworld when they did good Midnight deals and when we got there, the place was a madhouse, the displays were decimated and nothing good was left, and it was so crowded that she had a panic attack (which she NEVER does) and had to run outside. Even if there was something left to pick up, it looked like it'd take an hour to check out. FTS. Never again. Not going through that grief to save a buck on a movie.

Brave, Tin Tin, Columbiana for me--that is, if I can fight my way through the scrum. Not looking forward to that.

Exactly, your not going to get Criterions and catalogue titles on Black Friday. People want new releases or stuff that was released this year.

what would happen if someone slipped Captain America into your collection? would you have to rebuy the ones it touched? Would you lose hipster cred when your friends saw it?

There's some decent stuff there. I wouldn't mind picking up The Adventures of Tin Tin and We Bought a Zoo for $8.96. Also will probably get Die Another Day since it's dirt cheap. It'd be nice if some of the other Bond films are that price.

That and you would get the biggest WTF? face from those people if you spoke the words Criterion or catalogue to them. They would wonder what exactly you even meant, especially Criterion.

I dunno. There are several Criterion titles that are fullscreen. Of course, at a $40 pricepoint, that kinda breaks the Wally Wallet and you'd get quite a few chuckles and tobacky in your face.

In any case, I'd rather buy 10 titles @ $4 a piece on BF, than one over-priced-even-during-a-50%-OFF-sale Criterion title. I'm not THAT into movies.

I'm quite puzzled as to what Criterions has to do with this thread?

Yes, these titles would not gel well with "White Men Can't Jump"

WMCJ is so superior to that pile of rubbish being offered but wouldn't that just be a matter of my opinion?

Re: WalMart Black Friday Ad 2012

I was pleasantly surprised to pick up Brave this morning for the Black Friday price. I read people on another forum were getting it, so I took a chance. Apparently other Black Friday BDs are ringing up that way too right now. I'm so happy to have avoided all Black Friday crowds this year.

edit: I see there's a thread now for this.

Yep, can confirm that the prices are live. Picked up Fight Club, Act of Valor, and a pair of Braves (w/DMR coupon) for the advertised BF sales prices. Was in and out of there in 5 minutes with no lines at most of the registers.

Will these prices be on-line too or just in-stores?

Re: WalMart Black Friday Ad 2012

got most of the $3.96 titles I wanted except Rise of the Planet of Apes...only the single disc was on sale and they were all wrapped up in special pallets...the ones out were the BD+DVD+DC which rang up $19.96. Of course, I was told the single disc was not carried in store and that they were recalled :-). I will definitely see it online for that price at some store for sure. For now, glad to avert the crowds. Which, by the way, was already building up

Will Walmart price match using your phone to show a price from another store?
