Headed to my local Barnes & Noble this afternoon, to see if I could find Fritz Lang's Die Nibelungen (on the off chance that they'd consider it an "at house" movie and as such be 50% off). No such luck. The salesperson told me that all Blu-ray discs would be on-sale for 40% off starting on either the 18th or 19th (I can't remember which.) He didn't know if it would be on-line, but it's most definitely in-store.

B&N's 40% off prices will be like a few dollars more than regular prices at many other retailers. Who sets the MSRP at B&N ?

Maybe better than Deep Discount prices. If anything, I'm holding out for Best Buy and Amazon. Last year I did rather well with them.

Both. They are calling it a 'hot new releases' 40% off sale . . . . so just recent releases and no hard rules as to what is on sale and what isn't. Site reflects sale prices.

Your local BN will have the sale blus tagged with a 40 % sticker.

^^^It sounds like this week is 40% off select new releases and next week will be the 40% off all Blu Rays. Needless to say, them pushing it back twice now makes me skeptical.

If those prices with the 40% off are the new prices, then they are still a joke and Amazon beats ost of them - the 40% takes their prices near to "normal" Blu prices

Only way this could be good is if you have a voucher as well as the 40% off

I went to a B&N today, inquired about the sale while I was there looking at other stuff. The guy laughed at this story about the 40% off sale.

The key is to get blu-rays that Amazon doesn't discount. Like a lot of Paramount titles. For example, Chinatown is discounted at $13.49 and Breakfast at Tiffany's is $14.99. Amazon has never gone that low on either one.

AS of today, it is actually 50% off select Blurays/DVD. Add an extra 10% if you are a member and buy it from the store. If they are out of it they can order it for you online you will still get the extra 10% off + Free shipping.

FYI when Warner Bros takes over distribution of many Paramount titles next year they will begin releasing some double features beginning in March. All have a MSR price of $20 per double feature.

Just got a members coupon for 30% any one item at a retail store. Doesn't work online, because you have to print the coupon out.
