Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

I posted this on the 18th in the dvd thread: my closest DT has boxes stacked next to the display from the last batch. Having opened 1 box, I believe they are leftovers from that batch. The titles were such garbage, that it may take awhile for them to sell through them. The blu's were down to 2, but there were literally hundreds of dvd's. The box I opened only had 1 blu in it, & the dvd titles were really mediocre. I was going to buy 1 dvd (Genghis Khan), but they only had 1 checkout line open, & it wasn't worth the wait.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Monday, I was in that same Dollar Tree I mentioned earlier to buy a birthday card and didn't see any discs at all. I thought it was odd because they had so many just a month ago, but maybe the "flea market guy" is back in business. They had Mardi Gras, Valentines, Easter and St Patricks Day stuff out, so if you want to stock up for the next 4 holidays, now's your chance! I'll try to hit the other one near me on the way home tonight. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Can only guess there always more dvds then blu rays is cause not many blu ray put in the boxes or dvd sit more cause even places i go the dvd pile up more cause more traffic for blu ray then dvd now days. may go check my place, but gonna think may not be much i want or need any so i go with a limit and hope any good movie or by chance tv show worth getting, besides see people show videos on utube that some stores get box sets of shows lol so i never know till i check lol. and was told they be out fri but i always read some stores stock them ahead of time so may be any new out before that.

Reporting from the opposite Coast but my experiences this time have mirrored your finds. I've come across boxes and boxes of DVDs this time with only a handful of Blu-rays scattered across them.

Okay, finally hit the jackpot today at one of my most reliable Dollar Tree locations. While they still had overflowing DVD stock leftover from December, a few new boxes of BDs and DVDs popped up from January shipments. January shipments come in a different size box than the December shipments - the January boxes are only big enough to hold one row of BDs/DVDs, probably around 40 per box. I saw at least 5 January boxes at this one location. I'm pretty sure I was the first one to rifle through these new boxes.

Much better finds this time than December.

Found:

The Thompsons
Brawler
Canadian versions of all Twilight movies
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II & III
Recoil
Break Night
Step Up All In
Search Party
The Judge
Copper Season One
The Gallows
The Monkey King
Sinbad Season One
The English Teacher
Sharknado 2
Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Coral Reef 3D
One Life

But a few great DVD finds, including BBC releases, a six-disc Stooges set, a collector's set of classic Sherlock Holmes movies, and a huge memorabilia set about classic car companies.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

I not see many blu ray as i seen before cause i guess not as many in box or they get sold sooner then dvd. i do notice as to what saw in past some stuff got sold for any reason cause what saw before was not there today but some the cast was in new stock so can guess any i not snag today gonna be sold anytime later. i pretty slective what i snag after i add to basket and sort what i really want and put back any not pass my checklist of detail i expect any. as for what extras and who in and what about really. so can wait now till get news again of any new shipments and see what can snag next trip to place.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

I popped into a store late Thursday night and saw half a display up front. Only a single BD (the Journey to Space title mentioned above) and a few dozen DVDs which weren't of much interest. I may check back in there since I don't know if I missed this wave of stuff or if they hadn't put it all out yet.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

My store still has a good 10 copies of Inherent Vice on Blu-ray left from the last go around. I found 18 titles yesterday, including a 70's blaxploitation box with 8 movies.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Opened six more boxes of the January shipment at a different location - largely the same stock I had seen at the first location. Saw things like

Arthur Newman
Soul Men
TMNT
Nobody Famous
Transcendence

More interesting is that I came across some very old DVDs in this batch, including a New Line movie in a snapper case called Cherish. The Blu-rays had stickers indicating they were originally from Walmart's bargain bins dated March 2015.

I don’t know if it’s what you meant, but I’ve seen 2 different blaxploitation sets with 15 movies each. “Urban Revenge” And “Urban Action Cinema” (Which often comes in 2 different covers) I would recommend the Urban Revenge one. It’s got Candy Tangerine Man, Stigma (An interesting thriller from the director of I Drink Your Blood) And Brotherhood of Death (A Tarantino favorite)

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

I was checking a couple stores Friday for movies since the solar lights were out during the week, but neither store had anything out Friday afternoon. I decided to check yesterday at some closer to home, and was pleased to see movies as the Weekly Deal.

The first two stores I went to had the same selection as the November shipments did. The next two stores had a different selection of titles in the bin (although one still had the endcap from last November over half full.). My list looks pretty much like the one PhantomStranger posted in #655.

I ended up with the following BD:
After Party
Bodysnatch
Brawler
Copper Season One
Sindbad Complete First Season
Spies of Warsaw
SSGB
The Thompsons
Yelling to the Sky

DVD:
Bigfish & Begonia
Captain America Double Feature
Classic Sports Cars set

The clerk actually asked her manager about the Classic Sports Cars set "This whole thing is dollar? That's crazy."

I guess I got gypped. I have Non Stop Urban Action Collection & it's got 8 movies: The Black Gestapo, The Black Six, Death Journey, Get Christie Love, Mean Johnny Barrows, Lady Cocoa, The Final Comedown & The Black Streetfighter.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Yesterday, I picked up HER on blu ray at a local Dollar Tree store, but upon taking off the shrink wrap, I discovered that only the DVD was inside the blu ray case. The inside of the blu ray case was indeed for a DVD+Blu ray combo, but again, only the DVD was included.

So for anyone who purchased HER, you may want to check to be sure you actually have a blu ray copy of the film, and not just a blu ray case with only the DVD.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

About the combo missing a cd, i would go back with receipt and say it was missing a cd to exchange form something else and not sure if any other copies might be the same way. i have no blu ray player so i dont really just grab br much but has to be combo if anything. i think if movie was mssing a cd it would feel lighter then a combo movie at anytime. so i guess gotta check weight of combos anytime to make sure it had 2 cds. just my guess.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Heads up! Encountered a new batch of movies still in their shipping boxes (opened, of course) in one of my local DT's last night. Unfortunately for me, all were DVD's & did not see anything worthwhile to buy.

Street date on them as indicated on one of the boxes is 2/21/2020.
I have 1 other store to check, but the manager adheres to the street date, so I have a wait.

So, if you have DT stores in your area that breaks street dates, haul yourself out & go hunting!

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Went to two local Dollar Tree B&Ms earlier this morning.

The first one didn't have anything new, only what was represented a few months ago. They also had a lot less than they did during that time period.

The second store I went to moved all of their Blu-Rays & DVDs to a bottom shelf in an aisle. Had a few sealed boxes which I was able to go through.

Picked up:

Song To Song (2017)
Pillow Talk (1959)
The Train Robbers (1973)
Abducted In Plain Sight (2017)

Most of the local Dollar Trees still haven't sold out their last wave.
