Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

I visited four locations and found movies at three of them. The best stocked store had them in the back, which I have found tends to help delay these getting wiped out. When they put them out in the front basket, they get picked over very quickly.

Pro tip: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret Of The Ooze - the VUDU code that comes with this Blu-ray is still good, the caveat being that it's hard to read since it comes on the flip side of a sticker.

Better DVD titles this time around, including Mike Tyson's Mysteries Season One and The Wonder Years: Season One.

Pro tip #2: The Pink Panther 2 Blu-ray (Steve Martin version) has a bonus DVD included with 27 classic Pink Panther cartoons.

Re-checked my three local stores last night and while two were picked clean, the other had a large assortment. Would have loved to find a few of the titles mentioned in this thread, but still managed to buy 24 titles.

Has anyone spotted The Canyons, 6 Days, or Life (2015) on BluRay? Local (New Jersey) stores only seem to have those titles on DVD.

Moo4, you may want to check your copy of A Walk in the Woods. I've heard pretty much unanimous reports that it can't be read by anyone's player.

Didn't work on my modded region free Sony BDP-S1100 which has been my work horse. Dusted off a Funai NB620FX4 from the garage and sure enough, no sweat playing it back. Solid PQ

When I go into Dollar Tree, if they have DVDs and blu-rays, it's always fifty copies of some random title Enron the Smartest Guys in the House, and then single copies of two or three b-movies I've never heard of.

Warning: Yoga Hosers is one of the worst films I've ever seen. And not "so bad it's kinda good" like Ed Wood films, but "so bad it truly sucks". Fans of The Interview 2014 (possibly the worst film of all time ino) might like it. I bought it because of Johny Depp (who has not made an appearance so far at 2/3 of the way through) & the 2 cute girls on the cover (one whom is Depp's Daughter).

I think I'm getting paid back for all the great blind buys at $ tree. While a completely opposite type of film, Upstram Colors is so far even worse than Yoga Hosers. I don't think I can sit through any more (I'm at about 10 minutes). Well so far this batch I've wasted a whopping $3.00. I'll live.

Of the new movies from this batch I've seen before, here are the more watchable ones. I ended up reviewing many of these movies when they first hit Blu-ray. Many others from this batch are forgettable indie junk or Hollywood misfires.

Entourage: The Movie
Howl
Kickboxer: Vengeance
A Late Quartet
Point Blank
Sweetwater
Charlie Countryman

Late Quartet was quite good.

And the other is Kevin Smith's daughter.

Stopped by 5 different Dollar Tree stores throughout today.

Most were well stocked with DVDs but not many Blu-Rays.

Only one store had Upstream Color on Blu-Ray but it was in rough shape. Ended up getting a copy on DVD.

As for Blu-Rays, I picked up copies of Hangman (2015) & Carrie (2013).

I had high hopes for Upstram Colors, have not watched yet.
I heard Yoga Hosers was crap.
Besides the old gems that they get here and there, looks like the dvds DT gets ,have more better movies.

They're baa-aack! This batch is supposed to go on sale on Black Friday (according to the boxes that they were shipped in), but if your local Dollar Tree usually puts its discs out when it receives them, check it now for the best selection. Lots of folks are reporting online that there are many, many more Blu-rays in this batch than usual, but I didn't see that at my store. I ended up grabbing three:

Transcendence
The Gallows
300: Rise of an Empire 3D

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Yep, I went and there were about 15-16 boxes of titles. Boxes are white and easily identifiable, and the top rips off the display the 44 titles each box holds more easily. Picked up about ten titles, if I didnt have titles like the 3D 300 movie, and Inherent Vice I'd have gotten them too.

Easily the most I have seen at a DT since I started this thread years ago

Local store told me they hadn't even received them yet. Said they were aware of them & wouldn't put out until BF. They also said BF is dead for them & coming in the afternoon should be safe.

Re: Dollar Tree BLU Rays!

Visited 3 stores here in NJ today. One had nothing. The second had about 9 boxes which were pretty picked over (already!). 3rd store had about 9 boxes as well: 3 unopened (I opened them), and the rest open and pretty full.
Most of the titles I was interested in were DVD, so I passed on all except one. I noticed a lot of repeat titles in the boxes (numerous copies of Twilight Eclipse Blu), but there was only one each of the titles I bought. Also noticed each store had single copies of titles the other store didn't have - so YMMV. Some of the other singles I recall seeing were: The Rover (2014 DVD), Adoration (2008 DVD), plus concert DVD's by Phil Collins and Duran Duran.
I bought:
Lost River (DVD)
The Lost City Of Z (Blu)
The Way Back (Blu)
Doctor Who Dark Water/Death In Heaven (3D Blu)

FWIW, I loved Yoga Hosers. I paid full price for it, because I was looking forward to the sequel to Tusk. One thing you can say for it, is it's original.

I had no idea that Kevin Smith posted here.

I'm sure there's a huge payday on that $1 blu-ray.

Actually, that made me laugh!

Found these three Sony/Columbia titles in a store near my workplace:
Boondock Saints - All Saints day
Monuments Men
Walk Hard 2 Disc edition

Some decent finds. I liked The Lost City Of Z (Blu)

The DT I went had the display set up in the back of one isle instead of up front.
Would have missed it if I did not ask the cashier.

Gravity 3d blu-ray was one of films I bought, but not many blus. this time.
But they did have a few great older movies on DVD. I'll update
