Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant and Walter Matheau - what's not to like about Charade? I wish the Criterion had a few more extras; it feels a tad bare-bones, without actually being bare-bones. Great movie though. Reminds me a little of Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief - it's not a terribly suspenseful film, but it succeeds in everything it sets out to do. Iconic moments between Grant and Hepburn. What's wrong with this movie - "Absolutely nothing."

Hmm, the only Criterion I don't have that I'm somewhat interested in with the coupon is Eating Raoul, but it's tough to pull the trigger when you have to pay shipping...

Are B & N no longer part of any cashback programs? They're not on either e bates or fatwallet anymore.

Charade is an excellent film. It's often been described as "the Hitchcock film that Hitchcock never made." In a lot of ways it does feel like one of his movies. Cary Grant is charming and Audrey Hepburn gorgeous, but surprisingly they have a lot of on-screen chemistry despite their age difference. On top of that they mystery is baffling, at times humorous, and elegant.

I vote you take the plunge.

I actually watched Charade for the first time a few weeks ago and loved it. It definitely compares to Hitchcock, no doubt, but it does have its own touch from Donen. Some very suspenseful scenes and a lot of charm from two very personable actors. Only thing that got to me was the dubbed kid. Urgh. I don't think it's at all surprising that Grant and Hepburn had a lot of chemistry. She even had chemistry with Bogie on screen and he'd have chemistry with a mop.

Thanks to both of you.

From what I had read about it, it certainly sounded like a Hitchcock type of film. May take the plunge if it is in stock when I go out later this week. If not, I will order online.

Just placed an order for a(nother) copy of Rashomon as a gift with the 30% off coupon, matched with the Bonnie and Clyde Digibook for $28 shipped.

Charade is a must-buy, IMHO. One of the very first Criterion Blus I purchased when I decided to finally upgrade the DVD collection. One of my very favorite movies, with lots of really cute, charming bits, some light suspense, and even a few really weird parts (that shower scene still confuses me).

It's a really nice transfer, too.

I paired up In the Mood for Love with a Sudoku calendar that I always give out as a stocking stuffer for Xmas.

BTW, I was able to get Best Buy to price match the 50% off promotion and got Eating Raoul for $15. Best Buy was amazingly easy about the price match.

Ditto. I was all set to use the coupon in-store until I realized it doesn't kick in until 11/23 and I'll won't be near a B&N Friday.

With shipping, the savings aren't nearly as pronounced. Oh well. I'll be buying plenty as it is this week I suppose.

EDIT: Scratch that...forgot I needed Fanny & Alexander, so I picked it up for $25.41 shipped. Even paying for shipping, this was too good a price to pass up.

Excellent!

I picked up Heaven's Gate and Eclipse 37 - When Horror Came to Shochiku under my 2 accounts.

I would not be able to hit the stores this weekend so this works out nicely.

This sucks. I'm so broke right now that I couldn't pull the trigger on Monsters & Madmen for $29.xx shipped.

I'm tempted to order something with this coupon. I doubt I'll get near a store to use my member discount soon as, sadly, it looks like I'll be attending a funeral that's a few hours drive away post-Thanksgiving.

There aren't any more boxsets that I want, so I picked up Pale Flower on BD for $14.93 shipped.

I'm over-budget for the month, so this was definitely my last purchase.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion/Art House Sale 10/30/12-11/19/12

Ah decided to go for PLAYTIME instead of CHARADE since the latter is practically bare bones and should be cheaper just on principle. At least by my principles! Plus I got into Blu Ray in order to simulate 70mm in my home and PLAYTIME fits that criteria (ha!) perfectly.

So for this sale I wound up with LONESOME, BLACK NARCISSUS and PLAYTIME. The last of them was the best deal thanks to the coupon. Still mad that my local Best Buy wouldn't halve THEIR price for ROSEMARY'S BABY rather than match the B&N price, but I'll get over it. Maybe.

Is this a one-time use coupon per account? Wondering if this could be used for multiple orders.

Also, anyway to get free shipping without spending at least $25? I am not a B&N member.
