Looks like Rashomon on blu-ray is out of stock. I was too late on that.

edit: back in stock now

Asked a clerk at the store this week, and she confirmed it running through 11/26. Other posters have agreed.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion/Art House Sale 10/30/12-11/19/12

I suspect over the last couple of sales that the movie people at B&N are getting to recognize me, since I always pop up multiple times during this sale. I went to pick up my reserved copy of Trilogy of Life yesterday, and the clerk (I think he was the same one that checked me out last time) barely had to look for my name on the movie orders. When he glanced over behind the register, he just asked, "The Pasolini?"

I said yup, paid and was on my way.

Nice-looking set. Very keen to dig into it.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion/Art House Sale 10/30/12-11/19/12

Was able to combine the $8 off $40 and $5 off $50 tonight for Trilogy of Life and Weekend for a total of $41 and change (pre-tax). Very helpful clerk. She was convinced that the two coupons could be combined but the system would not accept both. She called a manager and the two of them tried their damnedest to make it work for a few minutes. Finally, the manager just entered a manual override to give me the $5 discount and they seemed more pleased than I was that it worked.

Oddly, it seemed like this was the first time the manager had ever seen one of these coupons. He read the fine print out loud and emphasized the part where it states that the $40 threshold was BEFORE all other discounts were applied, so I'm thinking he would allow the $8 off on anything that lists over $40. Also, he made sure I surrendered my computer-printed coupon because of course these are unique and one-time use only

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion/Art House Sale 10/30/12-11/19/12

Question: I had an B&N employee tell me today that I can only use a coupon once ever(used a 20% and 5 off 50).............another visit, different day, and/or another coupon doesn't matter. Is this a new policy I'm unaware of? Shocked as I want to go back tomorrow and buy more blus. This sound right?

Read the coupons.

Technically, this has always been true. Technically, if you are not a new member, you should not be able to use the 5 off $50 coupons. So, technically, this IS right and always has been.

Is that how it's going to work in practice if you go back again with a coupon? Unlikely. They don't know who has used what coupon, because the barcodes are all the same. This is why they've been trying to move toward individual barcodes.

Dublin. I had never seen this particular manager before. Youngish, late-20s dude. Seemed to know his Criterion films. Very laid back. This was on a Friday evening. Clerk was a nice lady in her 40s. She recognizes me by sight and gushes semi-orgasmically about the coupon savings as she rings customers up. Very unnerving.

Well, give her something to turn that semi into a full blown one. Maybe if you bought several titles and saved a ton people would think she is riding a simian.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion/Art House Sale 10/30/12-11/19/12

Its just crazy that Criterion mentions nothing about the extension and says its last chance. I know the in-store extension is confirmed - just seems odd if online is also extended why Criterion wouldn't acknowledge that.

I think you meant to say "Sybian".

A simian is a higher form of primate...

... Although I guess if she was really, really kinky...

Bad news, Good news:

Bad news: Heaven's Gate was MSRP $50! When did that start??

Good news: I was able to use an $8 off one item coupon on Trilogy of Life, and a $5 off $50 coupon on the same order. Not tooo shabby.

It's a 2-disc BD and they always price those at $50 MSRP.

Good news if you have a cashier who uses the $8/40 coupon based on sticker price

Used the coupon and got Being John Malkovich for $13.99 shipped. (Also, some weird glitch gave me free shipping. A membership number kept popping up, disappeared, and then settled long enough for me to check out.)

Contemplating buying Charade as the premise sounds like something I would enjoy. Can anyone recommend this and/or have any comparisons to this film?

TIA
