Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion/Art House Sale 10/30/12-11/19/12

Was finally able to get someone on the Live Chat.

After checking our records, there's no record of any recent order under your account. It may or may have not went through. We've had technical difficulties the past days because of the hurricane, and it has affected our system that resulted to latency with some orders. We are planning to ship all available orders in the next few days. If you won't receive any confirmation email until next week, it's most likely that the order didn't go through. But since it shows a pending transaction your PayPal account, there's a possibility that it may have went through but just that it doesn't show on our records until now.

Then I asked them if I should just cancel the Paypal order and re-order the items again via CC

We kindly advise that you allow until next week for an update via email as we do our best to sort and check our system for all the orders that were placed during the hurricane. Or, you can place a new order now on your best convenience. If ever the original order went through and you'll end up having duplicate order, you can always return them for a refund.

In other words I'm most likely screwed and will have to ask Paypal for a refund. They did say to wait until Monday or Tuesday, because lots of their orders are backlogged and they're going through them very slowly trying to catch up. Obviously they're handling the orders that come in that are paid via credit card first, but they're still lagging with the ones paid for via Paypal.

Like a few of you, I also had the temporary charges stuck on my card for a few days, happy to say they are gone this morning.

Had a return at Best Buy and decided to look at their pathetic and disastrous selection of Ceiterions. Only saw The Game and Rosemary's Baby of course and almost decided to try a PM, but ended up going to BN instead. Glad I did because the clerk didn't know how to deal with the surprise coupon and the buzz coupon and I ended up getting 3 for $29.97!

Fuck - so I put my online order in the first day of the sale and I've gotten nothing so far. So does this mean nothing ever processed?

For those of you who waited to order the late Nov, early Dec. titles like Brazil, The Qatsi Trilogy, etc., it's too late now. Those titles are no longer 50% off. I was holding off until today but now I missed it. Oh well. I bet Criterion will have another 50% off sale around Christmas.

Buzz coupon expired 11/1 so huge YMMV now...

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion/Art House Sale 10/30/12-11/19/12

I thought I'd send Paypal a message just to expedite things, but looks like that money is on "hold" for 30 days unless B&N ships the order.

Thank you for contacting PayPal.

Your order status is “Pending” because the merchant has received your order but hasn’t processed your payment yet. Most merchants will complete your order a few days after they receive it. Some merchants will wait until they’re ready to ship your order.

If you buy an intangible item (like a hotel room or a trip), a merchant might wait until after you’ve used the service to process the payment.

If the merchant doesn’t complete your order within 30 days, the order will automatically be canceled and the status will change to “Void.”

Used it multiple times before; membership expired long time ago.

Whoa thanks for this. I was going to wait on the Shochiku set but impulsively pulled the trigger last night. Good thing I did, it seems.

I think this might just be a current glitch as pre-orders for titles that come out during the sale are also no longer 50% off - BN always keep those on sale the entire sale - also other titles such as the non Godard Weekend isn't 50% off. Hopefully the kinks get worked out because I still needed to pre-order Purple Noon and Qatsi Trilogy, already did the rest.

This actually happened with Quadrophenia last night as I was going to order it. BN.com showed not in stock and only available with 3rd party. It has now been fixed though.

Me too, but if form follows, these titles will not be included. I shouldn't have waited....

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion/Art House Sale 10/30/12-11/19/12

I had a good time w/ my grabs here in Denton.

David Lean Directs Noel Coward set ended up being $34.09 (tax included) for me. Used that Halloween coupon they emailed that had a mystery discount on there. I got 30% off (via coupon) the Criterion 50% and the 10% member discount. I was hoping for 50% but 30% is still great. The set is originally $99.99..so including what the original tax would be in there too..I saved $74.15 off that thing. I just got the most expensive Criterion that I wanted and hoped for the best.

I also got Rushmore, The Gold Rush, and The Great Dictator in a separate order. Those 3 w/ a $5 coupon off an order of $50 or more ended up being $53.01. So I've had a damn fine day.

Today, finally, the Buzz coupon died for me. The store clerk said it was showing that it had expired on 11/1. Strange, because it certainly worked for me on 11/2, but whatever...

It's now been 4 days since I placed the order and still no confirmation or order history. Should I just go ahead and assume the original order is lost?

Same issue here. I applied the code hariseldon sent me and ordered Rosemary's Baby and Eating Raoul for $39. Instead of a confirmation screen, I just got a message that my Shopping Bag was now empty. No e-mail and nothing shows up in my order history. The code now comes up as being used, so something went through. I made a screengrab of my "Order Review" screen, so hopefully they will still honor the discount if the order got lost.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion/Art House Sale 10/30/12-11/19/12

So, my Paypal order has listed as ship, in three different shipments. Antichrist is one, Tokyo Drifter is another, and then Branded To Kill, Belle de Jour, Cul-de-Sac, and The Game make up the third. Paypal still lists payment as pending, and it hasn't shown up on my bank account yet. The two pre-orders I made with my CC both showed up.
