It must have been a pretty damn big & expensive order to drain his bank account leading to the overdraft charges.

It was my private spending account which my wife and I both have...not our joint/main account! They still are in my opinion for letting this happen. A small Co. I could understand a little more easily but a Franchise of this size!!!NO excuse!

I am still livid and still waiting for resolvement of this fuc*ing mess!!!!! Just inexcusable for a company as big as B&N is!!!!
you know, the whole incident sucks, but I hope you learned that for an order that much in price and items in general of this nature, never, ever use a debit card.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion/Art House Sale 10/30/12-11/19/12

Any coupons released yet this week? I received one 20% off coupon in the mail today to go with my B&N membership good in-stores and has an online code. I tested the code, and it is not applicable to Criterion Collection items online during the sale. Each Criterion title has this on the product page: Note: This item does not qualify for coupons or promotional discounts unless expressly stated. Might be worth trying in-store to see if it can be applied.

Dammit, can't believe the sale ends one day before the release of Eclipse 37: When Horror Came to Shochiku.

It always ends the day before that week's releases.

Should have pre-ordered it during the first couple of days before they changed it

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion/Art House Sale 10/30/12-11/19/12

Finally got a chance to check out my local B&N store during this sale.

One my best friends went with me and she picked up Dazed & Confused (BD) and I picked up Rosemary's Baby (BD) and Carnival of Souls (DVD).

My local store has never had Carnival of Souls in-store, so I flipped out (a little bit) when I saw it sitting on an endcap.

Re: Barnes and Noble Criterion/Art House Sale 10/30/12-11/19/12

Finally managed to get in on the action yesterday. With post-hurricane fuel shortages in the area, it's hard to justify separate trips to B&N. I ordered The Music Room, Rosemary's Baby, and Sunday Bloody Sunday for in-store pickup. Got them on the way home from work yesterday. Used my membership discount and the $5 off $50 coupon with no issues.

There was nobody staffing the movie section so I had to go to the main checkout and ask for someone to ring me up. The guy that came over said, "Not bad for $120 list price worth of movies!" I agreed and off I went. May go back next week for Trilogy of Life and one or two more.

The same one I used to great success during the last sale. Since it says to only use within 7 days I just re-forwarded the message to myself, in case anyone wanted to check the date on the text.

Here's the wording of the text exactly:
From: 613-64

BN Buzz: Thanks for enrolling! Visit your nearest B&N Store in the next 7 days to save $5 off your next $15 or more with code: 503101.
And actually looking at it, it had the original text date below the message in small numbers. Oops!

Anyway good luck. I plan on getting only 2 movies this time.

I got that 20% off coupon but it doesn't let me add it to an online order. The coupon email says it can be used at a brick n mortar or online. I guess it doesn't work on the stuff that's already 50% off then.

It may be worth a shot B&M, but B&N started the policy of not applying coupons to Criterion sale movies during the July 2012 sale.

Its ymmv, I stopped in at mine over lunch, used the $8 off coupon on the Rosselini War Trilogy set, the 20% coupon on Rashomon and the 15% coupon on Paris, Texas on top of my member discount.
No problems whatsoever.

I grabbed Summer Interlude for $13.50 after 15% coupon and tax out the door. That will probably put an end to this sale for me with black Friday right around the corner.

On two different visits/transactions, I was able to use a BN Buzz code 503101for 15% off Rashomon and used the 20% off printed coupon available this week on Bottle Rocket. I was surprised the printed coupon was taken as it does not work online on Criterion titles on sale. If you want to use it, I'd recommend going soon.

Online and in-store are almost always different. I've been buying Criterions from B&N during their sales for the last few years and I've never, not once, been forbidden from using coupons in-store.

But it does specifically say on the coupons that they aren't to be used with any promotion. I've also been buying Criterions from B&N for a few years and I've never been allowed to use a coupon with the sale. I've tried at over 5 different stores and none would ever allow me to use them. So while there is stores that don't care and allow people to use them you have no recourse if they don't because it says right on the coupon not to.
