For $7 difference in list price, I will go for ET Target Steelbook ($17.99) instead of the digibook ($24.99).

I'll be delighted to drop $20 for the digibook of ET...as long as it's in stock. I'm just sad the Bonds aren't being released as expected.

What's the deal with the Steelbook at Target? Is it just a steel case? If so, I'm fine with the digibook. I thought the Jaws one was very cool.

Does anyone know if the ET Blu release will have the original version without the gun/walkie talkie switch? I have held on to my limited first DVD release just for that reason...

Not surprisingly, the infamous 2002 Special Edition of E.T. has not been included as part of this 30th Anniversary release, as Spielberg himself regretted the digital alterations in hindsight. Though several changes were subtle and didn't alter the film's tone, other new scenes and effects (including some rather distracting CGI and, of course, the walkie talkies) didn't fit in quite so well.

A curiosity question about the upgrade and save coupon, do all Best Buys participate in that promotion? I have never done it before nor have I seen anything advertised at the two I go to.

It's in the ad. Your BB would have to specifically ignore the ad in order not to do it.

If the Best Buy you're in is due to close down, the manager will likely not participate in U&S. This happened to me at one location recently.
