Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th

Picked up Ed Wood for $9.99 this morning. The guy at the register asked me for my phone number; first time that's happened. (No, he was not trying to pick me up lol). The girl who took my trade asked me when I bought the disc I was trading in; I told her years ago. The guy told her, "He doesn't need a receipt to trade in."

Yet another BB first. They often seem clueless on the first day of these promos.

Saw the Alien Anthology on a display touting Prometheus; $24.99 for this with trade is a good deal for anyone who doesn't have it considering the literally days worth of extras it has. Also had all Aliens movies including multiple copies with slipcovers for all you slipcover fans out there.

Debating on getting Prometheus 3D--not that I want the 3D disc, but like the cover, and for a few bucks more, what the hek--there might be a few more goodies on the 4-Disc version. How was the movie, though. I haven't seen it, but reading about it, looks good. And it's about time we had an Alien prequel. Been waiting about 15 years for it!
I haven't seen it either but have read a lot about it, as I have great interest in anything related to the Alien universe (well, except Alien vs. Predator). It seems to be an extremely polarizing movie that a lot of people really like and a lot of people cannot stand. The 3-D release has a whole disc of extras not included in the 2-D only version. That disc includes documentary footage that pushes four hours in length.

I'm sure others will chime in with more personal views.

Anyone know if the display with Magic and Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer is a display that has not been put out at many stores or is it a case if you don't have it by now, too bad.

FYI -- I got one of these (in addition to the trade-ins I had). I only used 3 (instead of the 6 [5 movies + phone upgrade]) coupons. The phone upgrade coupon did not take $5 off the BD. I had to go to customer serviced and they had to do a price correction to get my $5 back. The CS lady said they've had some problems with the $5 not being taken off.

Ended with:
Nightmare before Christmas ($14.99)
Attack the Block ($7.99)
Fight Club ($4.99)

Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th

Turned in five DVDs tonight. Two of them were still sealed and unopened, and the guy made a point of opening them up "just to be sure." First time that ever happened. It seems like a bit of overkill, plus it took him FOREVER to get them open, and this was after waiting in line for ten minutes because they made me wait in the returns line instead of simply doing it at the customer pick-up desk like every other time. Then I took my coupons up to the check-out lane, and none of them worked. Luckily the guy checking me could do a manual override without calling a manager. After all that, I walked out with:

Nightmare Before Christmas-$14.99
How to Make It In America Season 2-$19.99
I Spit On Your Grave Double Feature-$4.99
Road to Perdition-$4.99
The Innkeepers-$4.99

Looked everywhere for a display or endcap with Henry and Magic, but no luck. And asking a worker seemed pointless. Regardless, very happy with the deals, especially Innkeepers.

Made two trips today. Picked up the following for $5 a piece:

Hatchet 2
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer
Stakeland
Magic
House of the Devil
ATM
Wake Wood
Total Recall: MBE
Drive Angry
X-Men

Everything went pretty smoothly.

Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th

Instead of giving one coupon per disc traded, they are giving one coupon and crossing off on the receipt.

Picked up:
* American Werewolf in London - $5
* Evil Dead 2 - $5
* Nightmare Before Christmas - $15

Also got the Kevin Smith triple-pack for $5,normal sale price. I'll be getting Prometheus on Tuesday, selling off the 3D copy.

Re: Apparently U&S is back on October 7th

After the usual first-day-of-U&S-cluelessness, the CS person just had me bring my 5 blurays to her and she took off the discount there. For $5/ea, picked up:

House of Flying Daggers
Road to Perdition
Evil Dead 2
Everything Must Go
Red Dawn

I also found one copy of The Blair Witch Project for $5 (w/o U&S). I had tried to get it online, but it went out of stock, so that was a nice surprise.

Just a warning. Seems like Best Buy is trying to dump their "Enhanced For Widescreen" versions during these sales.

Just be aware of the aspect ratios, is all I'm saying. They may not be the original.

I don't think you know what "Enhanced for Widescreen" means.

Why would you need an "enhanced" Blu-ray. Seems odd. By definition (no pun intended), the information is already there--natively. Maybe these terms have already been on titles, but I don't remember them being there so much on so many titles before.

I've noticed some of these labeled "enhanced", have been cropped. Most of them are the Miramax / Echo Bridge releases. For example, my "enhanced" The Crow: City of Angels, was originally at a 1.85:1 AR, but is actually 1.78:1.

I realized enhanced does not mean cropped. Maybe this is just a coincidence.

Yeah, I recommend it. Especially with your upgrade coupon.

I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't remember - Will they accept other region dvds?

I believe you mean will they accept other region DVDs, I point this out only because your question makes sense but has the opposite meaning of what I think you intend

You are absolutely correct and it irritates me that I made that mistake. I'll blame the lack of sleep + early morning combo and take a mulligan on it.

As long as it has a UPC, it should be fine. They don't actually scan them, they just look. I have successfully traded in other region DVDs during prior U&Ss.

Thanks! Its region 3 ntsc so it plays on any US player anyways. That should be another easy $5 off when I go back.

Traded in 3 and came out with:

James And The Giant Peach ($14.99)
Excalibur ($4.99)
Predator ($4.99)

What was that 6 pack filed under? I wouldn't mind grabbing it for that price.

Just went to Best Buy again, and they got in The Innkeepers so I am overjoyed to pick it up for $4.99.

It was in a special display for Blu-ray titles on sale.
