I don't know if it's worth the extra $ for the bonus disc. If it's just fluff EPK stuff, I'm not interested. Wow, tough call here.

I picked up an Avengers steelbook today at Best Buy to keep my options open.
what extra $? it's the same price for 2D everywhere. so it is just extra fluff and with 3-discs fits perfectly in free BB case.

I'm still waiting for Amazon to match Target on the 3D version. If they do, 3D version will be the same price as the 2D version (after $5 coupon I pre-ordered with), cuz if I'm going to have useless 3rd Disc, I'd rather it be the 3D Blu than the Target bonus DVD.

fluff is fluff, but interesting fluff nonetheless. i think it will just add to the experience having 90min. of fluff considering there is not a lot of making-of extras on the actual Blu-ray. so i wouldn't call it useless.

The "Building a Cinematic Universe" documentary sounds pretty interesting and not just fluff. One site had about 23 minutes of clips, but they got yanked because they were clearly pirated. Granted, it won't be as cool as if it were just 90 minutes of ScarJo and Colbie Smulders skipping rope in bikinis in slow motion, but oh well.

My local Target said they will have a TON of the exclusive Avengers on Tuesday. So we shouldn't have to worry about them running out quickly...

Back in the day say when Tron came out. My local Target would have about 2-3 copies the BD in stock on release day. So I gave up going to Target since then. I am not sure if they have gotten much better as far as bringing more stock for new releases.

I gave up on Target thanks to them mangling the slipcovers in their security boxes

This is THE Blu-ray release of the year with an exclusive disc, so they'd better have tons of stock on hand. That said, I work a mile down the street from a store and I'll be swinging by early.

Some Target worker over at SlickDeals has announced that Target will cut the price of the 3D Avengers down to $19.99 across the country!

If you look on Target's website at their weekly ad, and then roll over the image of the 3-D blu-ray, it already says $19.99 in the pop-up box.

If you go to the Taget online ad and hover over the image of the 3D version of Avengers.. the popup shows it as $19.99... this is the 3D version with the bonus disc..

Spoiler:

ooh.. why do employee's leak this stuff? They get nothing except a chance to lose their job. Good to know, but I wouldn't risk my job over that, or stealing the ad to scan the pictures.

I just cancelled my amazon order!

I cancelled my order too.

I figure that Amazon is not going to lower the price to $19.99 before shipping, so best case, they might match the $24.99 price and I'd get it for $19.99 but without the bonus disc.

I'll take my chances with Target.

I'm hoping Amazon just matches the price, since I've already applied a $5 gift card.

Edit: Ahhh, screw it. I'll just go to Target. Canceling the order.

I don't believe there is any chance that Amazon matches the $19.99 price on the 3D edition.

Sweet! $20 is a great price. Hope I can keep my Best Buy steelbook though.

Good. I'll keep my Amazon pre-order then... They'll refund the price difference. And with the coupon I used when I pre-ordered, I'll pay $19.99 (+ tax)!

I can live with that! I don't need the bonus disc.

it's not $19.99, though, like Target is selling it. Well it is if you had the preorder coupon (I did), but I'll just pick it up at Target now.

Damn, I don't know whether to trust this dude or not. I'd rather get it at Target, save an extra 5% and get the bonus disc, but if he's wrong then I lose out on $5.

I'm glad I cancelled when I did. It makes my decision easy.

If I still had an open order with the $5 coupon, I'd be questioning this all week.

Re: Target Ad 09/23 - 09/29/12

Ended up getting to Target about 20 minutes before they opened... up until 5 minutes before opening I was the only car in the regular part of the parking lot (employees were off to the side).. there were a couple employees cleaning in front of the store (power washing and picking up trash).. and there were 2 seagulls..

just about 5 minutes before opening.. in came a small amount of cars.. maybe 10.... and they parked.. when these folks got out of their cars.. I didn't think everyone was there for Avengers.. boy was I wrong..

the doors opened.. and all of us went to where the discs were setup... the 3D set was shelf marked $24.99... and they had the regular Blu set (the one mentioned they wouldn't get) marked $19.99.. I thought.. hmmm... maybe that was a regional thing or mistake on the website or urban legend..

then I heard the worker that was there talking to the small group of people.. explaining that it is $5 more to get the 3D set.. but if you want to save $5.. the regular set would be good... so I changed my plan to buy 2 and grabbed 1 ... then I noticed the price scanner nearby..

scanned the 3D set.. and .. it was $19.99.. so as I grabbed a 2nd copy (an Xmas present)... I told the people with the employee and the employee that the 3D set was indeed still $19.99... so basically the same price.. and here it is.. the punchline..

the employee told all of us.. that yes ... "right now".. it is $19.99 because they had price matched themselves on the other set as they orginally didn't think they were going to get any ... but now that they did get them ... the $19.99 price for the 3D set will only work for a little while "today only"....

so the 70 year old guy that was there buying 5 copies (assumed for his grandchildren or that is gonna be us in a few decades)... put his non-3D sets back to get the 3D sets..

basically the employee was trying to steer people away from the 3D set.. likely to allow it to go back up to $24.99... but that small pack of us that were there early didn't take the bait.. (I even told a couple people in the checkout.. who went back to change up to the 3D set)...

happy hunting...
