Thanks for posting. I'm glad the Indiana Jones set will be $5 cheaper than Target. Still high, but my RZ coupons will have me picking this up for $34.99.

So $65 for Indy looks to be the best we'll be seeing. I'll probably get it, but maybe a little reluctantly.

Question : if you use RZ coupons on a purchase to save $10-$20, then the price drops later, will they still PM the lower price and refund you the difference, or will they say you already paid less than the new lower price and No PM For You!

I really thought Indy would come in under $60.... hmm... decision time. The SW set never went below it's first wk price during the holidays.

Guess I'll wait for a Black Friday deal (hopefully) on the Indy set.

I wish Big Bang was still $30 next week. I'd get that and Modern Family on BD and get the $10 gift card, but as is I'll wait for a better deal on these (hopefully Black Friday as well).

I doubt it since you can't get partial credit back when you use a RZ coupon. It just happened that all my points came through from the U&S buys, so this is the ideal time to blow them. If the price drops later, so be it. I highly doubt we'll see it drop into the $40-$50 range.

Good ole' Lucasfilm doesn't believe in lower prices. Lucas can't starve you know. I doubt we'll see a price drop on the IJ set come the holidays.

That's fine too. I don't need the set immediately, so if I have to wait until next years Black Friday deals, that's fine with me. I won't pay over $50 for the set.

If the Star Wars set is any indication, you will never get the set unfortunately. I'm kind of surprised myself, I thought I got it around $55.

EDIT: Sorry, was trying to post the price history graph from blu-ray.com. Lowest price it's been at least on Amazon is $70.

I don't understand why everyone thinks Indy nor Star Wars will eventually drop in price. They dropped like a stone after about a year of being out on DVD.

It's been a year since Star Wars released and it has yet to drop in retail price. They did drop like a stone on DVD, but so far not the Blu. Maybe they will when IJ hits.

Only some people don't think it'll happen soon. I'm not worried about it. X-Men Trilogy, Die Hard Collection, Underworld Trilogy all dropped in the $20-$30 range pretty quickly, but of course those are Fox sets instead of Paramount. All I know is for a movie I already have on DVD (and the 4th Indy movie on BD) there's no way I'm paying more than $10 x 3 for the 3 I don't have + $5 for the last one I already have, so $35 or less. If it takes a year or two to get there, so be it. B&N had a rare 50% off coupon deal that let me get the Star Wars 1-6 set for $45-ish after a bit of work (and that set is still shrinkwrapped on the shelf). I'll agree that the Indy set will probably be too new to be under $40 during this BF/holiday season. I guess having seen the Indy movies so many times my desire to rewatch them right now is fairly low.

you can still get the price match. the price match policy has nothing to do with RZ certificates (unlike other coupons or offers) and the system will automatically correct the price for you if the employee enters in the details.

But it's just been a year this week. I think you will see some drops in Star Wars for this holiday season. (Not that it will affect me because you won't see me spending any money for that set.)

Spielberg's stuff seems to drop quicker than the Star Wars stuff but I bet they keep Indiana Jones high for a year at least as well. Still can't make up my mind on that set or not. I need to put my dvd set up for sale. I am sure this has been asked before but to save me time, are all the IJ dvd extras being ported over? Any major differences?

I have the original IJ set with that extra disc that you got at Best Buy if I remember correctly. Doubt that it really makes the set worth anymore though.

I agree that SW will see a deal this holiday season, but I don't think IJ will... But next year holiday season, IJ will...

I do not choose to wait. I'll get it right away, and watch it right away (well, except for KOTCS). It will skip to the front of my unwatched pile... My dilemma is whether to keep my Amazon order (which will be $61.74) or get the Target with lithograph exclusive for $8.74 more (factoring in red card discount and tax). I was hoping BB would have an exclusive, too, but it appears to only be Target...

Re: Best Buy Ad 09/16 - 09/22/12

Has anyone bought any of the 4-movie Disney DVD collections for $9.99? I saw them at my BB store (I guess they're on sale the whole month), but I already had a couple movies from each pack OR I know the movies are pan & scan which I can't support. I'm curious if these are the exact same pressings of each movie (which I assume) and just on 2 double sided discs or if they stripped extras (though several Disney catalog titles don't have extras) and combined them onto 1 side with a shared menu on 2 single sided discs?

I love old Disney catalog titles (I'm talking pre 1980s), and if they were all letterboxed I'd probably snap all of these up just to get proper versions, but I think every collection has at least 1 pan & scan title in it. Some might be open matte, but coming by that info is very tough. In fact, many years ago I once attempted to research Disney catalog titles to find out which ones were full frame/open matte, and I could only find definitive info on a few. I pretty much gave up on that endeavor. There seriously isn't a single movie in Walt Disney's Vault made before my cutoff point (The Black Hole and The Last Flight of Noah's Ark being the first 2 movies I disliked as a kid) that I wouldn't buy for $2.50 each in a proper theatrical presentation, yet Disney treats these releases like garbage. The 3 Dexter Riley movies (and The Barefoot Executive but they chose to put Horse in the Grey Flannel Suit in the collection where Kurt has a much smaller part) are so good. They are cheesy but they are funnier than most stuff made today.

I have to think with all these expensive blu ray box sets being released this quarter that there have to be bargains come Black Friday weekend at least for some of them. I am thinking about Indiana Jones, Alfred Hitchcock, the Universal Monsters, etc. Its always tempting to buy something on release week and then regret it when it goes on sale a short while later and you haven't watched it yet. No guarantees of course.

I wouldn't count on it.

As a general rule, I don't think that premium boxed sets have been used as Black Friday promotions very often. Most Black Friday promotions tend to be single movies sold for less than $10 or television sets.

Yes, but older boxed sets (Xmen, Spiderman, Die Hard, Underworld, Resident Evil, Jurassic Park trilogies) had BF specials last year. It's about time that LOTR EE trilogy BD gets a good $30 BF sale as I keep missing those rare $30-$40 deals. Indiana Jones may be too recent to get anything awesome this holiday season, but there's always next year. I just remind myself every time not to flinch on the prices... that roughly $10 per movie in a BD box set is my limit and it'll get there if I wait long enough. I always say, if you want the movie now then just pay the current prices, but if you're already overloaded and don't care when you get it, just wait.

The titles you list are all mainstream titles. Universal Monsters and Hitchcock are not. The Bond set stands a better chance than those two...

With Star Wars, you have to remember that they released it in two ways. They have the saga box with all the movies and the extras, but then they have the two trilogy sets with just the movies.

Those trilogy boxes go on sale all the time. I think I've seen them drop to around $30 at times. The Saga box is for the die hards, so yeah, it's hard to ever find it cheap. But the trilogy sets are for the more casual fans, so they get the deal.

With Indiana Jones getting only the one box set, it will have to be sold to both groups. That means at some point there will be a deal.
