Email and most of the time it is a rep with an Indian sounding name. Not many companies using American CSRs anymore (Vizio is an exception and like Amazon has excellent CSR).

Re: Best Buy Ad 08/19 - 08/25/12

I'm disappointed too. After this batch it looks like the new trend is that catalog releases get squat from Disney. Disney catalog BDs never sell for under $10 new and usually hover in the $15-$20 range for those few stores that carry them. I think someone posted that at least 4 (or maybe all 6) are available for about $17 each shipped from DMC, or one could re-join DMC and get them as enrollments, but I keep procrastinating doing that... I'm still on my 1st and only DMC membership from many years ago.

Or you can hope to grab them cheap at a Blockbuster store closing, but that's low probability of success. This time around I was able to get Amazon to give me the extra discounts on the second try, so I'll stick with Amazon for this batch. One can still hope that Amazon will PM BB's $22.99 prices on everything which combined with the $8 coupons will be $14.99 each... about the best I think we can ever hope to do on Disney catalog BDs any more. While I may still spring for $15-$20 for a Disney animated catalog release, it's not going to happen if they ever start releasing your ordinary live action catalog titles. (Pete's Dragon being an exception since it's one of my favorite Disney movies.)

Are the "extra discounts" the buy 2, save $10? Did you email them about it both times? If so, were they separate contact forms?

I just sent them an email. Couldn't hurt. I'll post back on what happens.

Well, they gave me the "rare exception" verbiage and $10 off, changing Pocahontas down to $17.86. I had four ordered, so it's not as good as getting $20 off, but it's better than nothing. I'll live with it.

After seeing that most people who emailed got denied, I used chat. The 1st rep I immediately mentioned the promo and asked for an adjustment and was instantly denied, so I stopped right there. Later in the day I tried a 2nd chat with a different tact... rather than asking for the promo I started by discussing BB's upcoming prices and $10 discount per pair and if Amazon planned to match BB or if I should cancel now. That led me into mentioning the current Amazon promo which I said I didn't get and I was offered $10 for each pair. I think if you ask for an adjustment they'll usually say no, but if you get someone nice you might be able to lead them into offering it.

I guess I got lucky, I sent an email and got the adjustment. Here's what I said
I noticed that you now have a promotion for getting $10 off when you buy 2 select Disney titles. Since all four of the Blu-rays I have pre-ordered on this order are part of that promotion, could I get $20 off?

I shot an e mail off as well, we'll see how it goes. If they don't budge, I think I'm going to cancel at least one or two of those. I'm sure I can find them for less than $15 sometime in the future.

Well they wouldn't give me credit on my preorders, but gave me a $10 promotional credit towards my next order. Which I guess works out OK in the end, because I think I'm going to cancel 2 out of the 5 preorders anyways.

I believe a promo credit is the ideal situation because if they adjust the item prices, I think you effectively lose the preorder price guarantee because the adjusted price will be below the $22.99 price, but if they give you a promo credit and leave the prices alone then you should still get the preorder price guarantee (i.e. $22.99 - $8 coupon = $14.99 on at least 3 of the 6 titles that have already dropped in price). If that's wrong, someone please post.

Eh, picked up Breaking Bad Seasons 1-4 for around $75 bucks. Best Buy's got them all marked for sale (some if not all lower than Amazon), and you also get a $10 gift card for buying $50 worth of TV shows or $25 for buying $100 worth.

Does the code you receive from ordering $50 online for pickup....does that count against buying another $50 (doing the same promotion again)? (i.e. would need to spend $60 with such a code to get another $10)........

$10 code that works like a gift card but must be for over $10 purchase.

That wasn't his question. His question was whether he would get another $10 code if he places a subsequent $50+ order and uses the old code to pay for a portion of it-- resulting in a balance of < $50.

Cool, thanks. Glad to see S1/S2 combo of Happy Endings dropped to $22.99 this week.

Damn. That was one of my titles purchased for reaching $100 to get the $25 GC. Based on how the receipt looks, I don't think I'll be able to get a price adjustment. And if they attempt it, I'm not sure it would even work, since that would drop my overall purchase to $99.99. Oh well, it's only 2 bucks. Could be worse...

Yes and no. There is one payment method that could negate the $10 promo, if falling below $50. RZ certs alter the price, and would affect the qualifying purchase if lowered below $50. However, the $10 promo certs are actually gift cards, so for the question posed, it would work without issue.

EDIT: Based on the post from Darkdaze, apparently the RZ certs do NOT negate the $10 online promotion. I had issues with the in-store GC promo, so perhaps the limitation is only in-store.

Re: Best Buy Ad 08/19 - 08/25/12

I'll be interested to see if there are "buy 2, save $10" mfg coupons on the Disney releases like some have said they've seen on online photos of the packaging, and if anyone will be able to use them with the Best Buy deal since Best Buy's ad doesn't mention needing a coupon. If there are coupons, it'll definitely be a YMMV except for Manzana, which we already know is a definite "No."

Best Buy's buy 2 save $10 is definitely different than the buy 2 save $10 on-pack coupons, considering you can go on BB's site now and get $10 off. However, I seem to recall something like this before where BB had their own buy 2 save $10 promotion and the copies in BB didn't have the on-pack coupon.

Just to add to this, I placed an order last week for the Jaws digibook and The Hunger Games BBY exclusive. Total before tax was around $55. I paid for a large majority of this order with some RZ cert. I had. After picking up THG set yesterday I just received my $10 code today.

So while it did put my total under the $50 mark(way under), it did not affect me from receiving the code.
