Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but there is a second, similar "phone eligibility" promotion running concurrently with this one. Basically, you find a clerk either in the mobile phone department or in customer service, tell them your cell number, phone carrier, and zip code, they check whether your phone is eligible for an upgrade, and then they hand you a $5 off any blu-ray $9.99 and up coupon. No DVD trade-in necessary for this promotion. I went in with 5 DVDs and ended up with 6 coupons because of this.

Edit: Just saw the details for this promotion in the OP, but haven't seen anyone discussing it. It's an easy way to get an extra coupon while you're in the store.

Mean Streets $5
Frequency $5
Hoosiers (new one) $8 (without coupon)
Meet the Parents (100th) $10
Ransom $10

Anyone ever see the regular release of Goonies at BB? They just had the box sets...

They had it during the last u&s, but it was not easy to find. Personally only found it at 1 of my 4 Best Buy stores. So I'm guessing you just have to watch stock

That's the thing, I've really tried to just stick with my own wishlist of movies I really want... $5 is great for a blu-ray, but at this point it's about shelf space, and titles I really see myself watching multiple times for years to come.

1st Trip: All $4.99

Ice Age 2 Combo
Ice Age 3 Combo
Green Lantern Combo ($6.99)
Final Destination 5 Combo

They were out of the first Ice Age, and the copy of Inception rang $14.99 so I passed on that, they made a note on my coupon and gave it back to me so I can use it again, to get a total of five, they were really nice and it was easy. Plan on taking 5 more trades in tommorow.

I was happily surprised to find Hoosiers for $7.99 as it was on my buy list for $14.99. I also picked up (with the $5 coupons and two $3 Universal coupons):

Smokey and the Bandit 100th $7.99 - $3
Parenthood 100th $4.99 - $3
Billy Elliot $7.99
The Sting $7.99
Frequency $4.99 (another snapper case bites the dust!)
Mean Streets $4.99
Color of Money $9.99

I'll go back Tuesday for Singin in the Rain, and then I'll be good for the week.

2 Dark Knight steel books.
2 Batman Begins steel books
U.S. Marshals
Next of Kin

* went to two different BBs to get multiple steel books and there a lot of them, for now.

Maverick is hard to find BTW.

If anyone cares, through their trade-in program, Amazon is buying back the steel books for double what you're paying with the coupon. If can get your hands on a lot of them, thats a real quick way to double your investment.

Please don't walk up to a register with 100 steelbooks.

I noticed in the ad today that the coupons also seem to work on CDs $9.99 and up. Has this always been the case?

My store had correction signs. The "Blu ray" in "Blu ray movie, TV or music" applied to all three.

ie: blu ray movie, blu ray tv, blu ray music (concerts, etc)

Grabbed the following for $5 a piece after trade and save:

Spawn
Blade II
Dark Knight Steelbook (with $5 DKR cash)
Face-Off

and for $10 after t&s:
Joe Satriani - Satchurated: Live in Montreal (7.1 Sound oh yea!)

Pretty satisfied...I'm tempted to go back for a couple more but we'll see.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, $5 Off Blu-ray titles, Jul 15 - Aug 11, 2012

Traded in a bunch of duplicates, ended up getting...

Batman Begins steelbook (/w five dollars movie cash)
The Dark Knight (/w five dollars movie cash)
Suckerpunch (/w five dollars movie cash)
Sherlock Holmes (/w five dollars movie cash)
Blade Trinity (/w five dollars movie cash)

4.99 each. Plan on bringing the girlfriend tomorrow to have her trade in five. There were a couple I wanted to pick up today, but didn't want to bother her or the employees. Hoping I can get Blade, Blade 2, MI4, Boondock Saints, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, Full Metal Jacket, Altered States, Gremlins 2, 127 Hours, Love and Other Drugs, Friday the 13th, Get Him to the Greek, and Due Date.

Does anyone know if you can use multiple five dollar off certificates on one ticket? Say my ticket is 9.75, can I use two of these certificates to get a free ticket?

If by this you mean: can you redeem two coupons to get a $10 movie free, the answer is no.

EDIT: Sorry, I just realized you probably meant redeeming the movie cash, not the five dollar off coupons. Not 100% sure, but the I think the answer is no to that as well.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, $5 Off Blu-ray titles, Jul 15 - Aug 11, 2012

Is the $5 upgrade coupon supposed to be surrendered when using it to buy a blu-ray? I bought MI4 with it, and the cashier gave me back the coupon. Does this mean that I can use it again for a future purchase or is the coupon now invalid if I try to use it again? The UPC on the coupon seems generic enough but it's also stapled to a recycling receipt (that has a line item for "1030557 DVD TRADE-U") that has another barcode. I'm not sure if the recycling receipt was scanned when I made the purchase.

Also, about the MI4 I bought, I just noticed that the blu-ray does not have any security seals, although it's shrink wrapped and came with the slip cover. Is this anything to worry about? Did anyone else's MI4 bluray come with security seals?

I was wondering if I could use the 5.00 dollars off The Dark Knight Rises certificate on the same ticket twice, given I have that many certificates.

So I have 5 of the TDKR certificates, if I wanted to get two tickets, could I use four certificates and get the tickets for virtually free?

Any issues trading in foreign discs? Specifically R3's with a lot of Chinese writing on them.

They are generic coupons. The cashier scanned the one I had 5 times. You get a free $5!

They SHOULD NOT accept these, but I know last sale someone mentioned trading in some R2 dvd's.

More often than not, when trading in discs, they just check that the disc is in there, and that's it.

I traded in some Region 2 and 3 discs today with no problem at all. May be best to bring a few extra DVD's just in case. But at both locations, all they did was open them to see then threw them in a bin.

Take it back! Seriously, check out the reviews, the PQ is absolutely terrible.

I managed to get everything I was looking for, but I was at a few different stores today (SoCal) and the overall inventory is really low (most of the cases were facing out). They're not as well stocked as they were on the last few promotions.
