Are you aware that Simon Pegg was also in Mi3?

I'm going to have to investigate this option as well as I don't suspect my store will have many of the WB Blurays that I want. I'm gonna call first and see if there are any difficulties as well.

Yes and no. I had them shipped to me, then did the return/rebuy. You are correct, returning a store-pickup and re-buying supposedly can't be done immediately...

I might have to run in first thing in the morning to pick up the Steelbooks if they are still there.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, $5 Off Blu-ray titles, Jul 15 - Aug 11, 2012

Just as I feared, I called 1 of my 2 nearby BB stores to try to decide which to go to. Both are bad:

Blade BD - 2 copies @ 1 store, 1 copy @ the other
Blade II BD - 0 copies @ all stores - DELETED (not going to be carried by BB)
Blade Trinity BD - 4 copies @ 1 store, 2 copies @ the other
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - 4 copies @ 1 store, 25 @ the other
Seven BD - 2 copies @ 1 store, 1 copy @ the other

Unless you're first in the door and run, there's little chance of getting any of these in my area. Even the 25 copies of MI:GP at the 1 store will probably be gone within 30 minutes. I don't know if other BB stores across the country have such lame inventories. Of course if they bump up the prices on any of these above $9.99 on Sunday morning, then it'll be a moot point and I'll just go to the store with 25 MI:GPs.

Has anyone seen or bought Blade II BD at BB? I thought people said they had seen it.

I'm eyeing Stand By Me too, but I'm cheap and won't get it unless it goes on sale for $9.99 during this promo.

I think you got the wrong information on Blade II because it's here as well.

Say it ain't so, a negative post by Manzana. Buddy, I'm so shocked that I would see a post like this by you and the sale has actually not even started yet Tell you what, just stay home and we'll enjoy the sale.

Additions to the $9.99 that were not there before that I'm looking at as well to get now, besides the 10+ already on my previous post in the Best Buy thread.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, $5 Off Blu-ray titles, Jul 15 - Aug 11, 2012

I bought 5 cheap slim line cased dvds at Dollar General and hopefully, if I get there as they open the doors I can snag the $5 Blu-rays I want:

1. Ghost Protocol ($9.99)
2. Stand by Me ($9.99)
3. American Graffiti ($12.99)
3. Gremlins 2 ($9.99)
4. Stripes ($9.99)
5. Flash aka the most entertaining parts of Ted ($9.99)

If the $9.99 price on Mean Streets holds, I suppose I'll grab another cheap dvd to trade-in and get a Region A copy to supplement my French Region B import.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, $5 Off Blu-ray titles, Jul 15 - Aug 11, 2012

Thanks, everyone who posted something helpful about the BB inventory on Blade II BD. I called a different BB and had that person check the inventory, and while the quantities are very low (0 copies at 1 store, 2 at another, and 4 at another), at least it's not deleted from all BB stores in the area like the other BB employee incorrectly said.

It would appear that Seven BD went up in price $5 today, so that's off my list. It'll be really interesting to see if a $3 Universal mfg coupon will be allowed with the U&S offer on any of those Universal sale BDs. As always, it's 100% YMMV and depends on the cashier. Oh no, Schloob1... I'm afraid I'll be going to my nearest BB after all, and I might actually be able to get all 4 BDs I really want.

So much for my list above (took me way too long to see my error even after it was highlighted...left for posterity). I wound up getting MI4, but nothing else on that list.

Was surprised to see Dumbo available for $17.99, so I luckily got the only copy without a torn to shit slipcase (they only had 3 copies overall). Then I had them price match the Barnes and Noble Criterion sale on The 39 Steps, Traffic, and 12 Angry Men.

Didn't think I'd be making multiple runs this go round, but they have a couple more Criterion Blu-rays I need and I still need to see about Mean Streets and get American Graffiti.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, $5 Off Blu-ray titles, Jul 15 - Aug 11, 2012

Back from the Bay Shore NY store. Got there just as the doors were opening and had the movie section virtually to myself. For any Long Islanders that might be reading, here's what I found:

1. Plenty of both Batman steelbooks, if you're looking for those.

2. Plenty of standard Ghost Protocol release (mostly in main shelves, not on a display).

3. Large cardboard display with the $9.99 Warner titles. Multiple copies of most (no Spawn). Altered States, Coma, Dog Day Afternoon, Full Metal Jacket, Outlaw Josey Wales (BD case version), etc. all available.

Was hoping to get lucky and find Mean Streets and Singin' in the Rain out early, but no dice. There were two empty slots with shelf tags for Mean Streets in the cardboard display. Will have to try later in the sale for those.

Decided to grab two of the Ice Age BD/DVD/DC combos for the kids. Those were in short supply--only one copy of Meltdown and two of Dawn of the Dinosaurs on an endcap with DVDs of the same movies. I saw none of the original.

I got:

Coma $4.99
Dog Day Afternoon $4.99
Full Metal Jacket $4.99
Ice Age: The Meltdown BD/DVD/DC $4.99
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs BD/DVD/DC $4.99

Also, for the first time they didn't do the complete trade-in at the customer service desk. They actually gave me five coupons to use at the regular registers.

Picked up Smokey and the Bandit and The Sting using Upgrade and save, two universal coupons and a $10 reward zone making my out of pocket price 0.

Also, if you're running out of DVDs, if your store has a Best Buy mobile, if you check to see if you're eligible for an upgrade they'll give you a coupon for $5 and blu ray $9.99 and up.
