Re: B&N 50% Criterion blu-ray sale now live through July 30

Okay, I just went to Barnes & Noble and got La Haine and Certified Copy for $15.96 each. (I'm pretty proud of myself about this because these kinda deals never work out for me)

So, I went up to the counter with both movies and asked the cashier if he knew about the Buzz. He said he did but never processed one. He called his manager over, she saw the text on my phone and she gave the greenlight. While the guy was ringing up both movies, I asked him if the coupon was a one time only thing or if I could come back and use it again. He said he didn't see why I couldn't use it again. So I asked him if he could split my movies into 2 separate orders and he did and 2 Criterion Blu-rays for $15.96 each. Victory!

Oops, late to the reply, but I see you now have an answer. Glad to hear it worked out for you! I'm going to hit one other store in the area and maybe go back to the ones I already used it on and see if there's a different cashier working. What is unusual about this code is several different people reported getting it, but it seems at different times. So do they have to read the text closely and see when it was sent? Does it actually expire in 7 days? Both cashiers pretty much glanced at the code and didn't question the text at all. The computer allows it's entry without any sort of override or manager approval.

The best part is you get an additional 10% if you have a member card too. And the system doesn't seem to track if you've used the coupon before (by being a member). There are about 4 more titles that I want, so it's my goal to milk this as long as I can so I can get them. I'm going to try again tomorrow.

^ Yeah when he said it was okay that I could use it on each disc, I wanted to go back and grab like eight other titles but I resisted. I think I will try it again at a different store. Also, this whole thing was set up by Visa -- and you don't even need a Visa card to have it processed. They process it like any other merchandise. Ah, capitalism.

Anyone upgraded their Criterion DVD of La Haine to Blu? I have the DVD but would get the Blu at the sale price but I'm not sure it would be that much of an upgrade to the video.

Ok, I went out and did it again. Same place as the first time I used the coupon, different cashier. She let me do separate transactions again, and I got two titles (also resisting the urge to do more). She wasn't exactly eager to do it, but she tried it anyway. Oh yeah I and put one on one card, and the other on a Mastercard.

Godzilla________$12.99
Diabolique______$12.99

I feel pretty confident I can get the last two Chaplin titles I want to replace the warner DVDs I sold earlier this year (at the 12.99 price).

The thing about this Buzz code is that it's been around for months. Some posters have said they signed up six months ago, and it was the same code. Only now is it getting any.....buzz.

Thanks. I must have deleted it accidentally as I was about to post. I'll fix it.

Picked up For All Mankind BD for $14.99 after BN Buzz coupon. Cashier had to ask manager how to enter code, paid cash. No issues.

Was going to try to skip this sale, but you all keep bumping the thread and tempting me. Will try to get a few coupons and attempt a few purchases this weekend.

Picked up Godzilla (1954) on Blu-Ray tonight.

I've only bought 2 things from this sale, but there aren't many Criterions I want a the moment.

I still want to pick up Belle du Jour and Island Of Lost Souls before this sale ends. No real rush

Re: B&N 50% Criterion blu-ray sale now live through July 30

Was wondering if we had any forum members here from the Portland,OR area.
Looking for some advice on which B&N location(s) I should be looking to go to
and or avoid as far as the coupons go (8/40, 5/50, Etc).

If anyone from around Portland could PM some solid info/experiences so far this
sale, I would be willing to help with some coupons codes in the future. I have
three active e-mail accounts that have each received every coupon(s) they
have ever sent over the last seven years. So anytime they have the unique
single use codes, I always have three to work with.

Kevy, I've gone to both locations, and they've both done a fine job of accepting the coupons I've used without complaint. The worst I've gotten from them is, "boy, that's a great deal!" I think you may be safe... if not, make sure to post your experience!
