Night of the Living Dead at CDJapan little ~$23
You can get the Japanese release of Night of the Living Dead (1968) at CDJapan for about $23 shipped. This is generally considered the best BD of the film, it has a good video bitrate, PCM audio and two commentaries, and includes One for the Fire and a trailer both in HD.
EDIT: Oh yea, credit goes to Bad Sandwich at Blu-ray.com for the tip. Also, if you are just now registering an account at CDJapan, they give you 300 reward points, which you can redeem during checkout to save a few more bucks.

Thanks! I already have the FF disc, but I can just resell that on Amazon. I chose Air Mail - it says 4-14 days, but may take up to eight weeks (!). Let's hope not. Final price was $23 and change after applying my 300 points.

I don't think many people know about the different transfers.

I want it, but every time I buy foreign a better USA version comes out within a few years. And since I have the ultra prime fantastico version of this on DVD (one of the 6 or so copies of this film I've purchased since VHS), I can wait it out. Hat tip to OP, though!

I'm tempted, but I have a feeling this'll get a nice Region A release soon, and I can wait. The old Elite Millenium Edition DVD still looks great in the interim.

Very tempting. I'm really happy with the 2008 DVD and the Elite DVD currently.
I'm definitely going to mull this over the next couple days. Hopefully it'll stay that price until then

Just an FYI for anyone wanting to order this. I placed an order on 6/20. It shipped on 6/21. It arrived on 6/28. Just finished watching it and it looks and sounds fantastic. Great deal. I have the Elite DVD and the original Laserdisc release but not handy to compare. I've seen this film hundreds of times and didn't notice any unusual cropping to the picture. The 1.33:1 framing looks wonderful. Get it while you can. I can't imagine an officially sanctioned release looking much better.

Which delivery method did you pick? I picked the cheapest (SAL) and it shipped on 6/18 and I haven't got it yet.

In for one, you guys talked me into it!
Had 600 points (300 for signing up + 300 for my birthday month) so it ended up being $19.54 with Air Mail shipping.

Almost tempted for this but I've never used CDJapan. Plus I have a feeling it'll come out in the US eventually. I can't believe it's not already out with most of the other Romero "Dead" movies out.

Re: Night of the Living Dead at CDJapan little ~$23
I've had no problems with cdjapan in the past. OP's post made me do a little research and I found a thread at blu-ray.com detailing the various BD releases. What really sold me on the Japanese BD is the very high bit rate compared with other releases and a good collection of extras. The cropped releases all seem to be related to a common transfer. Others have indicated that this is the transfer approved by Romero so I doubt we'll see a new transfer anytime soon. I myself don't know. I do know that the BD transfer easily blows the ME away and although I will hang on to my ME release, my preferred viewing will be the Japanese BD for now. Caps-a-holic has a comparison of the US ME DVD and the Optimum BD. The Japanese BD appears to be the same transfer as Optimum but with a much higher bit rate.
Thanks OP for finding the good price. I used SAL and mine shipped on 6/19/12. Hasn't arrived yet but I'm not sweating it. SAL stands for Slow Ass Letter I think.
