I've done this promotion a whole bunch of times, and there's never anyone to fight. Maybe it's slow here in western MA, I don't know. I've seen one guy standing in line with a stack of dvds to trade, and that's about it.

Yesterday I picked up:

From Dusk Till Dawn 4-movie collection 4.99
Crazy Stupid Love 4.99
Final Destination 2 5.99
Final Destination 3 5.99

Yup, never any lines for these promos in western MA, but more often than not the employees are still as clueleless as they are everywhere else. They didn't know they had started this promo again, disn't know where the coupons were and the girl checking me out had to get a 2nd employee to sign in or use a code several times because her sign in code was messed up for a few days.
Anyway, I ended up with Big Lebowski LE for $7.99 and Miracle and Memento 10th AE for $4.99 each. Would've gotten Garfield 2-pack for $9.99 ($17.99 minus $5 trade in and $3 manufacturer's coupon) for my youngest son, but she manually took $3 off and then claimed the system would only let her take $2 more off for the trade in (total bs since we have used coupons before for this without any problems) for a total off $12.99. Having waited patiently for over 15 minutes I simply said I didn't want that one then. So, she gave me one DVD back and handed me the trade in receipt together with the purchase receipt and BDs. As I walked out with my son I looked at rhe trade in receipt, and sure enough it has 4 on it Guess their incompetence worked in my favor this time.

They should get rid of the washing machines, blenders, toasters, musical instruments and concentrate on entertainment hardware and especially software. Software sells the hardware. Same for computers. Piss poor selection of notebooks.
You realize one of Circuit City's biggest mistakes was getting RID of appliances, just because YOU don't have any need for them doesnt mean most of the of the population.

Software is used to sell hardware, though many times at a loss... and in an age where more and more people are buying big ticket items from places other than Best Buy, I can't see them saving themselves. they are supposed to be streamlining most of their stores soon anyway. Why do they want to expand a part of the business (software, discs) that they don't make a lot of money off of?

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, $5 Off Blu-ray titles, Apr 22 - May 12, 2012

2nd day purchases:
Conan the Barbarian - 4.99
Supernatural S2 - 13.99
Supernatural S5 - 13.99
Ferris Buehler - 4.99
Big Lebowski Book - 7.99

Traded in 3 demo discs, a R&B music sampler, and 1 legit movie. The cashier almost rejected the two NBC preview discs, but she asked someone, and they said it was OK. Somewhere at home I have a shoebox of like 20 Fox demo discs. I came across it a few months ago. I need to find it again...

The last time they did this promo, each of my stores handled the process very differently. However, the stores yesterday and today actually did it almost the same. Both had me process the exchanges at customer service, and they gave me the trade-in receipt. However yesterday I was given 5 coupons, and they took all 5 coupons at the register, but gave me back the trade-in receipt. Today they only gave me one coupon, but they kept the coupon AND trade-in receipt. But at both stores, I was able to check out at the standard registers.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, $5 Off Blu-ray titles, Apr 22 - May 12, 2012

So far I have picked up:
Ferris Bueller's Day Off-$4.99
Robocop-$4.99
A Nigtmare on Elm Street (Original)-$4.99
The Big Lebowski-$7.99
To Catch a Thief-$9.99
The Devil's Double-$12.99
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy-$14.99

This week's ad states that Tinker Tailor is $24.99, but the price tag on the blu-ray itself stated $19.99 and it rang up as much, so if anyone is interested, might be worth checking out. Excellent film.
No problems at all with my trade-ins, even managed to get rid of a few that had computer-printed covers. They don't even look at them at the local store here. Just hand them a stack, they count them, and that's it. Good-bye, Blockbuster-exclusive Nomad The Warrior.

Who is a liar? I hope you mean the Best Buy worker in the previous post and not me.. haha

Actually I have the coupon right in front of me and it DOES say regular or promo price.. I will quote it "Markdowns taken from original or promotional price"

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, $5 Off Blu-ray titles, Apr 22 - May 12, 2012

Second trip, picked up
Batman Begins ($5)
Ghost ($5)
A Clockwork Orange ($5)
The Killer Inside Me ($5)
The Hangover ($10)
Young Adult ($15)

I'd still like to pick up Excalibur (so I can take back the copy I bought last week for $10)
and Underworld: Awakening when it streets.
Shame they don't carry any of the Kino/Redemption titles or even deeper catalog from the majors.

Anyone know if they take HD DVDs in trade as well?

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, $5 Off Blu-ray titles, Apr 22 - May 12, 2012

It took me approximately 30 minutes from the time I stepped to the customer service counter to receive the coupons. None of the three employees I dealt with had experience in issuing coupons. This is despite the fact that there were signs in prominent places throughout the store advertising the deal. Whenever I am there which is less and less often, my particular store seems to be run by teens. But, I did get the coupons.

I know this deal can not be combined with any other offer, but has anyone successfully tried using the Universal 100 Yrs Anniversary $3-off coupon in addition to the trade-and-save promo?

With BB, it's always a YMMV. However, that shouldn't count as another offer. It should be looked at as a form of payment. BTW, I have been able to apply these coupons with the upgrade promotion in the past.

Got:

Big Lebowski for 7.99
Contraband for 14.99
Batman Begins 4.99
Rocky III 4.99
Psycho (original 50th ann.) 4.99

Actually, lots of titles I would buy. Almost took Cobra for 4.99(yeah, I know, but just love the movie for some reason) over Rocky III, but figured I have plenty of DVDs I can trade. Also, Dollar Tree did have DVDs for $1, and slim line case ones were 4 for $1....traded cases with those and took them in no problem. Have to stop there again before they run out.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, $5 Off Blu-ray titles, Apr 22 - May 12, 2012

First run: Collateral (4.99), Public Enemies (4.99), Batman Begins (4.99), Gladiator (9.99), and Saving Private Ryan (9.99).

Second run: The Terminator (4.99) Black Hawk Down (9.99), The Thing [1982 release] (4.99), 300 (5.99), and Terminator: Salvation (5.99).

Debating about going back and picking up The Ten Commandments and Airplane! for $10 a piece. I'm definitely going to be heading back to Best Buy come May 1st for the re-release of Men In Black though.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, $5 Off Blu-ray titles, Apr 22 - May 12, 2012

Has anyone traded in a dvd for a bluray of the same movie? My wife thinks it's sounds crazy to upgrade from a dvd to the same title (as if taking a movie and buying a different title somehow makes more sense). I don't have any movies I want to get rid of, but I wouldn't mind replacing with an upgrade. I really need some cases. I might hit up the Dollar store.
