Preorder Return of the Living Dead Steelbook $17.50

Just noticed this today at Amazon UK....not bad assuming you don't own bluray already ...just FYI....

Pretty nice, and it includes the More Brains documentary and all of its' special features! Besides that, it looks like it includes some exclusive features, but doesn't seem to have the features from the US BD.

EDIT: According to Second Sight's site, More Brains is in HD! I wonder if this will be region-free

Someone on Blu-ray.com emailed Second Sight and was told Region B. If the transfer is an improvement on the US disc, I might double-dip. That Brains documentary is superb.

Here's the link to that thread

This is my favorite movie, so I might have to buy this even though I don't have a region free player. I'll get one eventually.

Well that just adds another one to the list to convince me to go region-free :)

I love how US films seem to get better DVD releases in foreign markets. Lucky bastards.

If HD-DVD won, we wouldn't be having this issue.

okay, wrong forum, but can anyone recommend a region free blu ray player under $100? This and the Arrow Demons release being locked is the last straw...

The insignia player is a under $60 region free player most of the time

And works like a charm

If hd-DVD had won we wouldn't be having this issue??

Of course we wouldn't be getting any titles at all then

Oh, I think you would still be getting titles.

But not from Sony.

Is this going to contain the original unedited audio?

There was no region coding with HD DVD.

Lack of region coding is not necessarily a good thing. Anybody who wanted to release a title anywhere would have to pony up the cost for worldwide rights. It might make many of the current Region B releases cost-prohibitive.

I'm under the assumption that companies/distributors are able to gouge consumers in many different ways, so it wouldn't be much of an issue.

I also think you would still have distributors limited to different areas, as one guy can have the rights to distribute to an American market and one to Europe. There wasn't that much of an issue when it came to VHS.

Which one is that?

EDIT: I just grabbed the Insignia NS-BRDVD4 from Ebay for $34 shipped. Found the appropriate firmware that retains the hack. Can't wait!

Too bad they can't add a Frank Sinatra or Brittney Spears soundtrack.

Would have been nice to get but I already own it, so no reason for me to dip again.

The music issues are out of their hands, but it's a real shame they couldn't improve upon the underwhelming U.S. transfer. I guess it just wasn't economically feasible for a such a small label.

Blu-ray: The semi-almost-excellent-sorta-kinda-pay-out-your-ass format.

This stuff kinda disturbs me. You'd think Blu-ray movies would be given the royal treatment. But once again, we discover another title losing its authenticity. Whatever the costs, the movie studio should have been given a break.

Re: Preorder Return of the Living Dead Steelbook $17.50

It's not any different than what people were saying DVDs would have early on. You could have all sorts of audio and subs, special features. Instead you get bare minimum for audio/subs and special features are pretty run of the mill.

Why would they change for a new format? That was my biggest issue with people fighting over which new format would win. Sure one format could be used to do a certain thing that the other one can't do or can't do as well but that doesn't mean it will happen.
