I wish that particular law was national. It seems that 90% of the price stickers that I come across at Best Buy are wrong. You can't rely on them at all.

That's all? My local Best Buy had every copy of Three Amigos on Blu-ray stickered at...85.99. That isn't a moved decimal, as it was supposed to be stickered at 14.99.

That law posted in this thread may only apply to certain regions/states, as it sure as shit don't apply to California. The vast, vast majority of media products are not priced in accordance to their regular non-sale price. In fact, the only area that's done right is the 7.99 bin, when it's actually out and browsable.

The customer kiosk at one of the Best Buys I frequent was broken for nearly a year. They just fixed it last week after completing the restructure of the media department.

I thought Best Buy had a 'squad' of folks that repaired computers.

And mayor Nanny Bloomberg wonders why lots of people are leaving the city? They have laws on food and the size of soft drinks too. I thought they also had among the highest taxes of any US city. I've never been there and probably never will because I don't want to get hit by the pedestrian tax or the gawking-at-skyscrapers tax or the just-passing-through-the-city tax.

I picked up a Warm Bodies BD and a Tinkerbell trick or treat bag for $.98 shipped, using their sale price, a $10 promo code they sent me via email, and my last remaining $5 reward bucks garnered from their defunct Facebook app. Not going to see the likes of this promo stacking for a long time.

I hadn't been in Best Buy since the last Upgrade and Save and I was shocked at the condition of the movie sections in three different stores. They might as well reduce the whole section down to about 1/2 of what it is because most of the shelves are bare.

Amazon must be happy because between Walmart and Best Buy they are both reducing movie stock. Pretty soon Amazon will have no competition.

Best Buy is in the process of doing a number of things in the media department. One, they have cut down vastly on their CD selection and (if you can believe this) have raised their prices $1 to $2 per CD because they said they were on the low end of pricing, and wanted to capture the lost dollars -- and of course they expect sales to stay the same!

Two, they have been whittling down their movie selection because they are about to planogram the entire movie department -- read less titles. This is a response to how Target does it. And the list prices, if no one has noticed, have been rising here as well.

This is all a big attempt to move most media sales to bestbuy.com. The word is corporate believes the media department is shrinking fast and the profits are online. Of course, if they continue to shrink their selection they are going to get what they asked for, but not only will they lose sales from a lot of people who still don't buy online, whose to say they will go to bestbuy.com?

So buy during sales as always, realizing selection is rapidly declining. Buy new releases during their normal sales cycle, but watch out, because minor new releases will disappear quickly. Amazon must be jumping with joy.

A sorry state for Best Buy media.

Personally, I avoid going to Best Buy for Blu-ray deals, as I get so many inconsistent statements and personal mental agendas from managers. With an online purchase, it arrives at my door rather quickly. Can't complain.
