I got one too and was racking my brain on what I spent there because my BB visits pretty much ended when they curbed their media sections. I actually went in a few weeks ago, first time since before Christmas, and the store was unrecognizable. Complete overhaul on design/layout and even the products they carry.

Well... guess I need to go through my deleted emails as I got an email from them but didn't bother reading it as they closed the store here and ordering from them online usually isn't worth the hassle - though that may have changed since even the free rewards memberships now get free shipping on everything - at least I think that's what I've read.

One huge road block is that their web site is so poorly designed it's difficult to find what you want most of the time.

If you add something to your cart and go through the process of checking out, if you have one it should show up on the bottom of the last page where you input your payment info.

I received one and just assumed it was because I may have had some BBY Reward points left over and they converted them.

I just put it towards a $30 PSN digital card as it's the only one I could find that works with the Reward cert.

Surprisingly, I got the $5 email. I haven't got one in like over 5 years.

There's speculation that this $5 was for zeroing out the rewards for people that don't have a Best Buy credit card. This is because they recently made the rewards only available to BB cardholders.

Hmmm... that means I'll have to look up my login information (no - it's not kept on the computer or with any "password" service) - it's been so long since I shopped there that I don't remember the password. Don't know if it's worth the hassle (no deleted email in the trash)...

Totally anecdotal, but that checks out with my experience. I'm a BB cardholder and didn't get the $5 cert.

Weird, I just got a $10 certificate and they specifically called it a reward certificate (I don't have a BB card).

Oh, I think you're probably right; I don't have a BB credit card. I had explicitly redeemed all my points earlier this year, so I could spend the certificates on my schedule (I was buying some items at the time), and I had 77 points left that I figured I would just lose. When I first got the $5 certificate a couple days ago, I checked my points balance, and I still had my 77 points. But now, checking it today, I have 0. It looks like they rounded up to the nearest $5 certificate.

I guess I'll have to hope something interesting goes on sale in the next couple months, cause I don't buy much at Best Buy anymore, since there's no incentive to. I told them as much when they ended the program, and I've pretty much stuck to that.
