Yeah, I figured we'd hear some kind of excuse. Amazingly, everything will be fine a week from now.

They've also apparently lowered quite a few of the 9.99 titles to 9.75 so that they are no longer able to be used with this.

We;ll see, but I bet there are ongoing issues all month

Happened to me today. Spiderman Blu was on teh shelf at 9.99 but rang up at 9.75 but I moaned and groaned and they gave it to me for 4.99. Also got Raging Bull for $4.99.

Anyone been able to trade Blockbuster cases yet? I've got quite a few of those around.

I had no trouble at all with getting Apollo 13 and Something about Mary. All done at the CS Desk and really smooth. Unfortunately all sold out on American Beauty, Good Will Hunting, and Road to Perdition. Hopefully restocked by Tuesday when I go for Boardwalk.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, Jan 8 - Jan 28, 2012

Just left my local BB (Westland, MI) and the movie guy there told me any Blu ray $9.99 and above qualifies he said just take $5.00 off the original price, for example if it's on sale for $14.99 but the original price was $16.99 you get it for $11.99....

Picked up...

Oh Brother Where Art Thou? - $19.99 - $5.00 = $14.99

Three Amigos - $12.99 - $5.00 = $7.99

Scarface (Metal Case) - $14.99 - $5.00 = $9.99

Gonna go back later in the week and get these for $4.99, From Dusk Til Dawn, Pale Rider, Beverly Hills Cop, Enemy at the Gates, they are each regulary priced at $9.99, also gonna pick up Nine Months which is $14.99 so i'll get it for $9.99 and Shallow Hal which is getting released on 1-10-12 and is $12.99 so i'll get that for $7.99, also Dutch gets released on 1-17-12 and will be $14.99 so that means $9.99.

Does anyone know what kind of credit they will give for multiple disk box sets? I'm thinking specifically of Star Wars.

Welp, no real problems at all. I did one as a tester and see if it was worth going after future titles (I had very little faith in my local Best Buy). Traded in Under Siege on DVD, got Braveheart on Blu for $4.99. A little bit of confusion, only one person in the store knew how to ring it up and was guiding the girl on how to do it. But it worked out fine. I plan to do a few more in the weeks to come, might as well stick with the same store.

I dumped a four-disc DVD set of public domain content that someone gave me as a gift, and they credited it as one DVD (which was fine with me because I just wanted to get rid of it). But the DVDs were all in one case, not a separate case for each.
For Star Wars, maybe you could take the individual DVDs out and trade them without the box? As long as each is in its own keep case, they may assume they were separate releases and not from a set.

You can call them on this. In the flyer this week, they explicitly show on-sale titles with the discount deducted from the sale price (e.g., $14.99 movies on sale should go for $9.99).

Some stores are apparently balking at this, but four of the five titles I bought today were on sale, and $5 came off the sale price, not the non-sale price. And it's consistent with what their ad shows.

Personally would be fun I suppose though to take The Departed up there and get that since they said what is on the site even thpugh it has a price of $7.99 What a shock I suppose that this is not running smoothly.
You show them the add that says ANY bluray DVD which it plainly states on page 11 I think. You're from Chicago dammit. Remember, they bring a knife, you bring a gun, they put one of yours in the hospital you put one of theirs in the morgue. Draw you own analogy how to translate that into action.

I picked up The town this morning, no issues. Just needed a override. Gonna go back this week and pick up X-Men first class for $9.99. Not gonna try to take another five off that one since the manager is going to price adjust it since it was out of stock during the one day sale.

Will use it again though.

Best response of the day.

When I heard them start murmuring about "checking the list of eligible titles" (they were even printing out the one on the web site), I was already pulling out my copy of the flyer and flipping to page 11. And then I showed them the disclaimer on the trade-in coupon they scan, that also said "any Blu-ray $9.99 and up" (music BDs and concerts excepted of course). They got quiet really fast.

That doesn't make much sense as a lot of their advertised deal are for 5 bucks off a sale price and not the original. For example Mr. Popper's Penguins can be had for 14.99 after coupon but before coupon and sale price it is 29.99

Is that the same Three Amigos anniversary disc that I saw stickered at $34.99 a week or so back?

Just got back from Best Buy and here are a few things I found out:

Mission Impossible Blu Rays- $9.99 after coupon
Logan's Run- Stickered at $9.99 in system as $7.99 not valid for coupon now
Seven- Digibook now $24.99

Hottest Blu Rays sold out everywhere I went:

Matrix Reloaded/Matrix Revolutions
Out of Africa - low stock
American Beauty- hard to find
Crow - low stock

Thanks for all the info from everybody!!

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, Jan 8 - Jan 28, 2012

got 10 titles, but had to use 2 transactions. Would have bought more if I had brought more DVDs, but was only going to limit it to 4. But then I said what the heck, I knew I'd be back. traded in some PD titles I got for a nickel a while back.

Stripes and Glory rang up as 9.75, but the tag said 9.99, so I PM"d them UP 24 cents (first time for everything). Some trouble with the coupon at first, but they eventually got it to ring up.

All 4.99
1) American Beauty (with slip)
2) Stripes
3) Glory
4) Thelma and Louise
5) Incredible Hulk
6) Good Will Hunting
7) Forgetting Sarah Marshall BD/DVD
8) Wall Street
9) Raging Bull BD/DVD (with slip)
10) Out of Africa BD/BVD

probably go back for Kill Bill 1/2, fast and furious, something about mary, probably a few more.

Apollo 13 and Cape Fear were nowhere to be seen when I got to my store either. (I wasn't looking to buy them, but they apparently went fast). Other titles down to very few on the shelves were American Beauty, Braveheart, Good Will Hunting, Raging Bull, Sweeney Todd...mostly $9.99 movies. I picked up American Beauty and Good Will Hunting, and I already own all the others except Apollo 13. Makes me wish I had waited to buy them; could have paid $4.99 each lol.

Waiting until the 10th so I can get my $5 reward zone coupon. Going to pick up Warrior then (17.99-5.00-5.00 = 7.99)!

If the one you are asking about is the 25 year anniversary edition that stars Chevy Chase, Steve Martin and Martin Short, YEP that's the one i picked up, they had like three or four on the shelf all marked $12.99.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, Jan 8 - Jan 28, 2012

I had a problem at the Rego Park,NY store this morning. The store manager would not give me "Sweeney Todd", claiming it was already marked down and thus ineligible, even though he agreed that the verbiage in the print ad was contradictory. I wound up purchasing this & "Knocked Up"stoe(a qualified title) using a my $5 RZ coupon.

Has anybody in NYC encounter any problems with this promotion? If not, please post the store's location. I was given back the coupon since it was used once & would like to use it to purchase any Bluray title.

Very smooth transaction in Southern California. Used 5 coupons on 5 Blu rays which were all sale priced. The computer didn't need any overrides and my clerk was extra polite.

Many of the low stock titles were low stock before this sale started. I went to my local BB yesterday (to get Lois and Clark S4 and Simpson S14 LE) and hid a stack full of stuff I was interested in. Nothing looked that different when I was in today, though some stuff may have sold out, but it didn't look like it.

alot of titles to go thru and posts on blu-ray.com have got me thinking I missed a bunch of stuff I really wanted. Gonna be BF2.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, Jan 8 - Jan 28, 2012

Store here had a big ass "trade and save" ANY $9.99 and up sign.... K

Grabbed...

American Beauty
300
Apollo 13
Fear and Loathing (have the CC DVD - not going to upgrade to the CC BD - keeping the DVD for the extras)

and of course... Ring em' up and the "system" doesn't recognize the $5 off. Manager had to override after looking at the trade and save. Like, she had no clue. Anyway... Worked. Probably going back for The Crow and maybe Boardwalk Empire. Good luck peeps.
