Thanks for the heads up on the Hitchcock Trio!

Going to add it on my list of things to get on my next Amazon UK order.

re: International Blu-ray deals

Finally ordered the Harry Potter set. Have been debating about it at Costco for $49.99 for the region 1 but for almost $20 cheaper, I'll give the UK region free set a chance. I'm still leery in general about ordering non region 1 stuff but my wallet is dictating more than my quirks right now.

re: International Blu-ray deals

Quick question -- are there any sites like blu-ray.com that will do price tracking for Amazon.co.uk BDs?

So did I. Ordered one last night and it shipped out already. I'm going to have to decide what to do with the extra copy of North by Northwest. However I'm glad I went the UK route for the Universal Hitchcock set. Otherwise I would have 3 copies to worry about.

I guess it depends on your credit card company's rate?

But darn, I wish I'd looked into this before the dozen plus orders I've made over the years there.

Yes. At the top of the blu-ray.com page you can change it to the UK Amazon version.

Which if the difference is significant makes perfect sense.

The card I use has a really shitty rate so I'd actually be saving if I used amazon.co.uk currency converter rate.

I never really compared them but I suppose I should. I have CapitolOne. I just always assumed the c/c would be better...

I use an Amazon Visa to get 3% off all my Amazon purchases, so unless I have a CapitalOne card I'm coming out at least even I guess.

Do you get bonus points for Amazon UK when using the Amazon Visa? I have the Visa, and have made purchases there, but never noticed if I got bonus points

^ I didn't think about that, perhaps not. Just the standard 1% on non-Amazon purchases. Guess I could do some research and check on Amazon.uk points, but that sounds like work.

Actually, my set shipped today...kinda surprised..but Amazon on backorder usually does. Might get it before Christmas after all

I don't believe you get any points for Amazon VISA when buying at Amazon UK.

Ugh, automated credit card fraud check canceled my order so no Potter for me. Price has gone up.

Pirates 4 disc blu ray is still a decent deal on the UK site, but I think I will wait it out.

Many credit cards will block the first time you attempt to order a foreign purchase from outside the country. It makes sense, but can be a real hassle.

Right! For some reason I was confusing it with trying to use points to buy something at UK. That I don't believe is possible.

You're correct. You can't use the points to make a purchase from the UK web site. You can only use them directly at Amazon.com. However you can sort of work around it if you turn your points into a statement credit instead. That way you can apply your points toward any purchase, plus you still earn the points.
