Re: International Blu-ray deals

When I had a PO Box, Amazon Canada blocked me. I haven't tried since I shout down the box (Wa state).

Is there any one outside of Kentucky that can't place an order (or get through the Address/Billing confirm screen)?

For several months, most (?all) Kentucky addresses have been blocked for some reason. It's not specifically a PO Box thing since many folks with normal addresses than can order from AmazonUK, etc just aren't able to order through Canada.
Clearly, Canada and Kentucky are in a trade war.

I made that joke to someone not that long ago given the Bourbon tariff (and it doesn't affect Wisconsin and California), but this has been an issue for much longer for some strange reason.

I thought it might be a DHL issue, but it seems to also affect UPS shipments. Ir's just been a weird issue that seemingly affects teh entire state.

Back down to $7.82 without prime. Wish I could find some other bargains for you folks on the fence, though.

I want to know how Amazon Canada apparently ended up with a massive oversupply of a limited edition Arrow Blu-ray.

I think it's just a smaller market.

I remember when Anchor Bay released their limited edition 2-disc of Army of Darkness, which they actually numbered the cases. The US got 30,000 copies, Canada 5,000, each with their own numbering. The US release sold out fast, but people were able to import the Canadian release for a while.

Re: International Blu-ray deals

Got in one last order of the Last House sets at $7.48 during the wee hours last night. Not sure if it dropped further, but now it's up to $27+, which is a fairly big jump compared to others in the last couple of weeks. Still cheaper than the U.S. price, but obviously shipping negates that. Guess we'll see if they drop it again. Or preferably they'll pick some special/limited edition set for the same treatment and someone here will stumble across it.

Re: International Blu-ray deals

Versailles complete series on Blu-ray, half-price at €25 from Amazon France, which comes to €20.33 when whatever the French equivalent of VAT is removed, add €8.50 for "rapide" shipping and you get about US$33.25 shipped.

In the USA only series 1 is available on BD. If you want the rest, it looks like only France, Germany and Australia have released them.

Realized that this isn't put out by Universal in France (the US S1 set is from Universal), but by StudioCanal, so it may be region locked.

It's a good period drama that could have run on premium cable. I think it runs on Ovation.

Re: International Blu-ray deals

For those that shop at Amazon.de, they have a wishlist promo going through 1/21/2019. Create your first wishlist and add 3 items to it and receive a 5 € promotional coupon. Says you should receive the voucher within one week.

Re: International Blu-ray deals

Thanks for the tip. I was actually eyeing a German order today. I don't use Amazon Wish Lists and I don't speak German, and perhaps not surprisingly found the GUI to be awkward. I made both an "Einkaufsliste: Privat" and a "Ihre Listen: Öffentlich" to hopefully cover all the bases. Now I just hope the prices hold out until the credit arrives.

It's not close to perfect, but the header of Amazon.de offers an option to display the site in English. Chrome also offers a built in translator.

You can navigate the site pretty easily without since a lot of it is set up almost exactly to match AMazon.com navigation, but the translator functions make it much easier. A lot of times from page to page I have to wait for it to fully load then reload a page to see it mostly in English (esp if you click and then go back a page), but it's a decent workaround.

Re: International Blu-ray deals

Amazon UK has a similar promo going on but you get a £4.00 coupon for creating a list with them.

btw, I received my .de coupon in my email yesterday.

Re: International Blu-ray deals

Is anybody else still waiting for their .de coupon? This is what I was concerned about. I don't use their Wishlist feature and was confused that there's no simple "Add to Wishlist" link or button, so put URL's in the free-form interface and am concerned their parser doesn't know what to make of it and thus no coupon. Guess I should go back and add "strumpfs" and "unterwäsche"?

After creating a list I clicked on the "Add to list" button on the far right side of the items of interest which then showed a list of "lists"(shopping, wish, etc) and put items in it.

Bit of a heads up for those who missed ARROW LE Last House on the Left
last time. It's not in deal territory yet, but it looks to be showing the same pattern as last time when it bottomed at around 7.50CAD in last Sept.

Afterwards, it jumped back to regular price for a several weeks, but the last few weeks it's been slowly falling a little at a time. At this rate, in another few weeks it may be back in stupid cheap territory.

I guess what happened is that I visited the .de page but didn't notice or click the link at the top, thinking instead that the page set a cookie. I then continued to log in and make a wishlist, which the offer now sees as a prior wishlist, which disqualifies me.

On the other hand, I remembered having a second Amazon account which I use specifically for situations like this. The Amazon UK offer process was flawless, and trying the German site with my 2nd account, resulted in the message

"Unfortunately, you can not participate in the offer below.
Please note the conditions of participation."

Which could simply mean that they ran out of coupons.

Oh well, I'll just be getting one fewer DVD.

Re: International Blu-ray deals

Now, I don't know if this is a targeted promotion as I didn't see this as a promotion at the time of purchase but a few days ago, I purchased a couple of mediabook editions from Amazon France. Y'day I received an email that offered EUR10 off any of these titles. Ended up purchasing Dunkirk 4K steelbook for a good price, with the coupon

At first I thought the Fantastic Beasts steelbook included free bread. How French!

Is anybody still waiting for their UK coupon? The process went flawlessly this time, but I still don't seem to be batting very well.
