I guess there is a one click order button that was activated, but that's one of the reasons I turned it off a few years ago after the 3rd-4th time I did it trying to load a cart.
Well, with the recent price increase, I think I will leave it alone. $26 USD for this set is probably as cheap as its going to get!

Thanks--might as well replace my HD DVDs (plus more) now.

While I'm generally not a fan of non-standard packaging, I do like these little boxes that the UK sets come in.

Thanks. I just got in on the deal - $26.33 shipped. It says Region B, but you guys are sure it's Region-Free?

Thanks. FWIW, the old set is also listed as Region B.

I was kicking myself for not getting this (+$10 GC) at Best Buy for $60 when it was a Deal of the Day. This is way better.

Yes, it's region free. I got it a few weeks ago, no issues at all. Incredible deal.

This doesn't have 50/60hz issues like many UK TV BDs?

Is that because it was originally a US production?

I believe that because it was originally shot on film at 24fps, it's encoded on the Blu-rays, in both US and UK, in 24p, which Blu-ray players in both countries support.

The Prisoner on Blu-ray is the same thing.

The only time the 50/60hz thing comes into play is when it was originally shot on video, which actually can affect some new HD shows like Doctor Who.

^Good to know, and that makes sense.

These things concern me because I use a PS3 for Blu-ray playback, and it flakes out on the 50hz content.

Speaking of which, does anyone know if the PS4 has the same problem?

re: International Blu-ray deals

I'm almost finished with the first two seasons of the show and it's worked great on the PS4. It is region free but I have not watched the special features yet. On the off chance that it's not PS4 friendly (unlikely at this point) I would most likely finish watching the set on my region free player.

Guys, seriously, a region free player goes for about $90-$100 on Amazon. I can link you to one if you'd like.

The PS4 can apparently handle and convert 50hz material, according to this user on another forum:
http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread....16#post8398116
It appears the PS4 IS 50Hz freindly, I tested [Misfits & Sherlock UK Blu-rays] and both played. I then tried it on the PS3 and both started but then froze shortly after the intro, before getting to the menu.

I've seen them. The problem is the really cheap ones don't usually have optical out. I want it for my man-cave, where I don't have an HDMI AV receiver.

re: International Blu-ray deals

Dumb question but if you place a pre-order with Amazon UK, do they charge you the amount of the exchange rate at the time they actually ship the item (since that is when they will charge your card) or do they charge you the exchange rate at the time you placed the order? What about when a pre-order drops in price?

I believe they charge you when the item is ready to ship - pre-orders, too. It's just like Amazon here in the states - if you pre-order you're also locking in on the possible lowest price.

So if you pre-order some for 15 pounds when it is $1.24 exchange rate but it doesn't ship until November and the exchange rate is then $1.40, you are getting charged by the $1.40 rate, correct?

I'm pretty sure you get the rate at the time you purchase, at least if you let Amazon do the converting.

That is correct. You'd only pay higher/lower if using a CC and letting *it* do the conversion. Once you place the order at Amazon using *their* converter, that's the price - even if the exchange rate doubles or falls through the floor.

re: International Blu-ray deals

Thanks for the answers. I guess if the rate changes substantially from what I originally paid, I can just cancel the original order and make a new preorder.

re: International Blu-ray deals

There is no option for their currency converter if you pre-order something.

At least it's been that way in my experience. Now that I know that Capital One doesn't charge foreign transaction fees, all my Amazon UK orders have been paid with my C1 card. Pre-ordered Red Dwarf series 11 last week and it didn't give me the option for the currency converter, said it's disabled due to a pre-order.

I wonder if the pound's flash crash and partial rebound had a hand in Amazon's forex charge.

If the value drops to around $1.18, that'll mean you can just change the pound sign to a dollar sign once VAT has been removed.
