re: International Blu-ray deals

That's odd - I ordered half an hour ago and it works fine;

Malcolm X - 6.06
Jaws - 6.25
Enter The Dragon - 12.46

Item Subtotal: £24.77
Delivery & Handling: £5.06
Promotion Applied: -£7.77

Order Total: £22.06
Selected Payment Method: MasterCard

Shipped to NY

and a lot of them actually say Region Free, if they are on the site

Yeah, need to pay attention to who "fulfills" the order. Has to say:

Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L. underneath the title when checking out.

Cashed in on the 3 for 17 pounds deal. Got Sneakers, Burt Wonderstone and Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Came out to 22.06 pounds for me w/shipping or about $35 American.

Ironically, all the Region-Free titles are American films and the interesting Euro stuff I might have ordered are Region B locked.

Ditto. All the 3D titles I'd be interested in are also region B.

Thanks for posting this. I thought it was a deal when I got the DVD set for $15 a few years ago.

Yeah, it was talked about at length at the Amazon thread. There are several good deals going on in January.

I bought The Big Bang Theory Season 1-7 on Blu Ray for about $50 shipped.

My BBT box set came this past Wed, a full 14 days after expected shipping date. If it doesn't come soon, I'd do a chat with them. I'm sure they'll send another copy if you want.

re: International Blu-ray deals

I feel bad. I called them Monday evening after the mail ran since it was a good 12 days after the due date. Thought I was being fair with the delivery time. They shipped another one right out to me and guaranteed it would be here by Thursday. Then the original one came in on Weds. Then another one on Thursday.

I am going to contact them to see if they want me to just mark the newest one return to sender.

Thry probably won't, and I've found that's often how it goes. I try and set three personal "must arrive by" dates - 1. Their date. 2. Their date + 2 weeks. 3. That date plus another two weeks. And then it's late and I'll query it!

re: International Blu-ray deals

Am curious as to what happens to all these 'lost' packages. Its not like they fall off into the ocean while making the trans Atlantic trip. somewhere someone is pilfering material, that's what this is. I mean, how can a system that's meant to perfected from order placement to fulfillment to receiving by the customer, go awry so often ? It probably also helps Amazon in declaring it as a loss and write off the same on their loss account books. Anyways, back to deals....sorry for the temporary derailing (although I have personally not had a single package from Amazon UK lost, delayed yes but never lost)

re: International Blu-ray deals

I ordered Arrow’s Corman/Price box in December and it never arrived. I just received another order that was estimated to be delivered on Feb 3 and 1 of the 4 items is missing and there is no packing slip. The carton is not even sealed. You can pull a flap at one end to open, then reclose it. It’s no wonder their shit gets lost all the time if they don’t even seal their packages. I’ve had several packages from Amazon UK go missing over the years but never from any other UK retailer.

re: International Blu-ray deals

I think international shipments have been delayed in recent weeks. A shipment from Japan just took two weeks longer than normal. Shipping internationally just isn't like domestic shipping anymore, mostly because of terrorism concerns these days. Packages will occasionally take weeks longer than estimated.

re: International Blu-ray deals

From past experience, my Amazon UK orders are generally delayed in winter and arrive pretty fast in summer. I don’t know much about international mail delivery, but I would suspect travel/flight delays from weather play a large role. PhantomStranger is probably right about the terror angle too. There are probably a lot of threats the public at large doesn’t even hear about. That Corman/ Price set shipped 12/22/14. It was limited to 2000 copies. I think we can readjust that figure to 1999 now cuz that baby is gone. Amazon UK has always been quick to resolve these issues without any cost to me and their prices are good so I keep coming back, but I hope they do more to cut out losses.

re: International Blu-ray deals

Another issue I've found is that Amazon.UK ships about 50% of orders to the USA from Germany rather than from the UK. I've found the German postal service can be weeks late; but if they ship with UK Royal mail, it gets here fairly quickly.

On a related subject, I am an on line retailer myself, & I won't ship to Germany anymore at all due to the delays in customers receiving packages (& blaming me).

There's a somewhat good deal going on where you can get 3 Blu-ray Box sets for 24 pounds.

P.S. Finally received the Superman Anthology. Package looked like it had a rather exciting journey.

The thing that sucks about a X for £Y deals is that they take the VAT tax off before they discount for the deal, so you usually end up paying for VAT tax.
