I'm a big fan of the original so naturally I smirked at the thought of the remake, however, $3.99 is enough to pique my interest to check it out.

FWIW, Let Me In is a lightning deal at Amazon on Monday night. I would wager to guess that they will match the $3.99 price.

That's a wager you would have lost.

Great price. I bought it for $10 shortly after release and thought it was decent, but it pales in comparison to the original (and the book for that matter). At least I got the nice slipcover and comic with the original pressing, which I doubt most copies have at this point.

Did go for Face/Off for $3.99. The original DVD I have doesn't look so hot.

Yep, Amazon has it slated for 7.99.

I've actually had the original (and superior) Let the Right One In on my wishlist for a while, hoping to see it fall below $10 again. I missed my chance last year and have been kicking myself since. The remake was okay, and for $4, if it has that cool slipcover, I might pick it up.

Thanks Moopher for posting this, jumped on all 5. Already had Let Me In & Face/Off on DVD, but think those are great upgrades for $4.

Who can resist these bargains? In for Flyboys, Disturbia, and Let Me In. I tried so hard to reach the $100 mark to get the free $10 GC (seeing if I could re-buy any titles I bought recently at the same price or less) but there weren't many that hadn't gone up in price.

Some of their blu-rays are listed as "pan and scan"?! Did they really release full frame blu-rays? That's a typo, right?

I love Let Me In and Let the Right One In, but for different reasons. They are complimentary, and I really wouldn't say one is better than the other. Let Me In is shockingly touching in the way that Super 8 tried to be. Let the Right One In gives you a bit more to chew on, however, because it is touching, yes, but also more disturbing in its inferences. I highly recommend both. (The book, however - not really a fan. I like my darkness and dysfunction with a side of levity.)

Stop being a snob. This version is quite good.

I don't know that he was ever being a snob, but if he was, I'm pretty sure it stopped when he it piqued his interest.

Picked up Let Me In and Face/Off for $8.64 shipped.

I have the original (Let the Right One In) and have been wanting to see the American remake.

Great Deals. Thanks!

The snobbery against remakes or dubbing sucks and is just meant for the snobs to preen about their imagined superiority. "I watched the original versions, thus I am better than stupid Americans who like Michael Bay movies and NASCAR." Get over yourselves. I directly blame this nerd rage for its box office failure. Congrats, snobs. Something other than Torture Porn Next Higher Number flops, so guess what sorts of movies won't get another chance?

I preferred Let Me In a little more though the CGI was janky as hell and removing the one shot which explained what the vampire really was because it would've skeeved out the blue-nose killjoys, but it was more easy to relate to. It doesn't help that the original video release of Let The Right One In had horribly botched subtitles* and unless you torrented a copy or re-bought the disc (since AFAIK there was no trade-in program like Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence had), you were SOL. That's another strike against the film nerds: How do you know you're really seeing the real dialog when the subs can be wrong? Hmmm?

* After waiting for two years for Hero to get an American release, I picked up a Chinese copy in Toronto. A few months later, it finally got released in theaters and I saw articles complaining about how the subtitle translation totally changed the meaning of a key theme, pretty much inverting the intent.

I ended up watching it dubbed with the botched subtitles to compare the two and it seemed as though the dubbed version was closer to the original theatrical subtitles from the few screen caps I saw at the time. It's a rare instance where I would recommend the dubbed version over the subtitled version.

In for a copy of Let Me In. I am just going to have it shipped as I'm not in a big hurry to see it. Thanks OP!

Subtitles don't tell you everything in a movie.

But for $3.99, what the hek. The remake wasn't a "bad" movie, but it was what it was, and I like the original much better, regardless of subtitle issues.
