I remember seeing this in its roadshow performance in San Francisco, in '59 or early '60, when I was eleven. Tickets were reserved in advance, as we do for the symphony or a play. Ben-Hur ran for more than a year at the Coronet. Until "The Return of the King" no film had garnered as many Oscars. This Blu-Ray transfer is outstanding! There is no CGI. A cast of thousands really is a cast of thousands. Watch the Chariot Race and you will understand why so many love this movie and what a steal the boxset was this weekend.

I admit I probably won't watch it soon, but I WILL watch it. It's a fantastic film. Will I watch it multiple times? Eventually. Will I lend it out so others can see it? YES. It will be worth my investment. I certainly wouldn't have paid $30+ for it, but it's a no brainer for 11 bucks. Oh, and I will definitely open it tonight after I pick it up. I want to play with all the goodies it comes with.
