Re: Fry's Blu-Ray Prices 11/18-23

I had a very disappointing experience at Target. My opinion of Target has dropped down several notches (though it remains above my opinion of BB which is slowly improving). I rarely have problems at Target, but if I do it's always (and I mean 100%) at my nearest store which is where I went because it's closest and I thought there's no way there could be problems on such a simple pricematch with the original ad. I waited late, so I couldn't have made it to Fry's even if I had wanted to (which I didn't).

I've PM'd Fry's ads throughout the week (including their Sat, Sun, and Wed ads which are usually "1-day only") at Target many times and have never had a problem until now. So when I heard about the LOTR set I bought it at the only Target in the area that had it in stock (about 3 miles out of my way on Tuesday) and figured I'd PM it Wednesday night at my nearby Target. Well, the girl was going to do it until the nasty girl walked over to look at the ad and said "we don't PM any limited time offers". I said I've done it before and Fry's ads are often 1 day only sales which is just normal for them. She said that's still a limited offer like a doorbuster and we don't PM those, so I asked to talk to the manager who said the same thing and claimed she was the highest manager there. I later asked someone else I recognized as a non-clueless employee who said she wasn't the highest up and called the real store manager who said the same thing claiming there is some memo about no PM'ing any ads 1 day or less.

So new lesson learned: don't count on Target PM'ing any Fry's ad except the normal Friday one. I'm almost wondering if the reason Fry's does so many 1-day ads is they know Target won't PM them or Fry's thinks by having 1 day sales they are going to encourage me to drive 25 miles daily rather than (as it used to be in the good old days) letting me wait until Thursday and then be able to pick up everything in 1 trip. Fry's just makes me go less rather than more with 1 day sales. I bet had I gone to any other Target (if I had had the time or energy) they would've done the PM without a problem.

And now for the funniest part. For fun (since I had to kill time while waiting for family) I called up the 1-800 Target customer service line to get their opinion of the pricematching policy, foolishly thinking someone at that line would have a clue. Here's what the person who spoke English with a bad accent said: Target will only pricematch items in THEIR ad. So in order to get a PM from, for instance, a Walmart ad, Target would have to have that same item pictured in their ad that week. Yeah right.

Thankfully the LOTR Trilogy at $39.99 isn't something I'm going to die without. The trip to the other Target would've been a total waste except I found a handful of clearance games not at the other stores.
