I ordered mine on Saturday, and received it on Monday morning. Gotta love Prime.

I liked the band so much more when Exene couldn't sing!

Not a deal on Amazon, but if you have a Target close by That '70s Show: Season One & 2 for $14.99.

You might want to consider creating a thread for it, since people interested in Amazon deals wouldn't necessarily interested in a Target deal and people interested in this might not check the Amazon deals thread.

(FYI Season One is also 14.99 on Amazon, and Season Two doesn't exist on Blu-Ray, which makes me think you were referring to the DVD versions and means you posted in the wrong forum altogether.)

To anyone who got more than one of the amazon GC codes and hasn't redeemed them yet: these are basically regular GC codes and more than one per order can be used. I stacked two of my three on one account, even though they were ordered on separate accounts.

I was very tempted to bite at Ben-hur for $9.99 but I ended up ordering the region-free UK set for $8 more shipped. I really wanted the 3rd disc but not the big box or physical extras.

Re: Amazon Blu-ray Discounts and Deals Thread #27

For fans of the Steven Moffat BBC series SHERLOCK, Amazon.uk has an amazing price right now:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sherlock-Com...dp/B006K1IIHA/

£17.99 is the listed price
THEN subtract VAT (£2.99, US residents don't pay the 16.7% tax that's included in the list price)
THEN add S/H (£3.08, makes the total £18.08)
THEN convert to US Dollars and it comes to approx $28.90 (I'm using £1.00 = $1.60 for the conversion)

Worth noting:
  • S1 ALONE on Blu Ray from Amazon.com is virtually the same price ($28.99 at present with free shipping)
  • S2 has not even aired in the US yet (coming in May)
  • The UK versions are longer (no deleted scenes)
  • These are Region Free discs.

The only caveat is that your Blu Ray player has to be able to play the UK 50i spec in addition to the US 60i spec. Many do, including my Panasonic SC-BT730.

Price-wise, this is a no-brainer. As noted above, this is the same price for BOTH seasons from the UK as for just Season 1 from the US.

Yeah, make sure your player can handle UK's 50i content. I got the Season 2 set from AmazonUK, and it didn't work in either my PS3 or Panasonic DMP-BD75.

Is this the whole series or just a grouping of the first 2 series with more to follow. Downton Abbey grouped the first 2 series and I' pretty sure they are making more. I hate buying incomplete sets.

BTW, has Sherlock series 2 aired on PBS in America. I"ve been waiting for it, but I don't check PBS religiously.

A third series is on the way but won't be airing anytime in the immediate future. Moffat's too tied up with Doctor Who. The set linked upthread is for people who want to catch up or rewatch rather than a definitive this-is-all-there-will-ever-be collection.

Airs in May on these shores. The domestic Blu-ray set for series 2 comes out immediately afterwards.

Correct on both counts. Sherlock S1 has aired in the UK and the US. Sherlock S2 has aired ONLY in the UK, and will not be broadcast here in the US until early May....

...unless of course you've figured out how to watch it via the Interwebs.

Re: Amazon Blu-ray Discounts and Deals Thread #27

BTW, here's a pricing breakdown for both seasons from both Amazon sites:

Amazon.com
Season One: $28.99 (free shipping)
Season Two: Pricing not announced yet, will release 5/22/12.

Amazon.co.uk (with VAT removed, shipping applied, and £1.00=$1.60 conversion estimate)
Series One: £6.99 ($14.26 if shipped alone, $10.91 if added to an order)
Series Two: £14.99 ($24.93 shipped alone, $13.49 $21.58 if added to an order)
S1+S2 Combo: £17.99 ($28.93 shipped)

For the above, Amazon.co.uk charges a flat £2.09 for orders to the US plus £0.99 for each item in that order. If ordering just one item, the cost is £3.08 (~$4.93). If ordering a 2nd item, the shipping cost FOR THAT ITEM is £0.99 (~$1.58).

Something seems wrong in that calculation somewhere. If S2 is $24.93 shipped alone, and S1 is $10.91 when added to an order, the total would be
$35.84. Yet if you use the S1 shipped alone price of $14.26, and the S2 added to order price of $13.49, the total would be $27.75. I think the S2 "added to order" price may be wrong. Seems too low...

Yup, I put the GBP0.99 in the wrong place in the calculation. Good catch! Let's try that again.

S2 = £14.99 less £2.49 VAT plus £0.99 shipping = £13.49 = ~$21.58

OP also fixed.

Apologies for overemphasizing this part but you have to be very, very careful with that. Because it is not only the BD player that needs to be able to play this format, but the TV also has to accept it (if the BD player does not convert it to the proper US format). E.g., my Panasonic player also outputs this format but my (also Panasonic) TV cannot display it. So, if I try to play one of those discs, I can hear the sound but no picture ;-(.

List of Blu-ray players handling 50 Hz sourced content: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=95245

But they don't all handle it the same. My Oppo converts to 60 Hz and it displays on my TV flawlessly. I bought the UK Sherlock S1+S2 set in February. Highly recommended if your setup can handle it.

Is there a list of TVs that can output it correctly? Cause my BD player can play it, but I don't want to buy the set if I don't know if my HDTV can output it.
