Actually no, the price has jumped back up so the "sale" lasted one day.
Amazon pricing is an endless source of amusement.

Crap, I was just in the process of placing an order which included Paul and The Expendables DC, when suddenly both items went up in price before my final click. I'm glad I was paying attention. I just can't justify placing the order, knowing that it went up 3 bucks. I guess I'll wait and hope they go back down by Saturday, otherwise I'll get them at Best Buy, which still has the old prices. I have RZ certs there anyway. Curious why Amazon would raise the prices mid-week, seeing as these are competitor prices from the BB ad. Usually those stay pricematched all week, then go up Saturday night.

The Mastercard promo link is dead now. It used to say Coming Soon when there was no coupon, so I take that to mean that it is not coming back anytime soon. Perhaps next holiday season. But if you used it at all this season, perhaps you have one of the $10 off $50 codes you can use?

Does anyone know when Amazon will get Kung Fu Panda 2 3D? I know BB has the exclusive rights now, but does that ever run out? If yes then when?

I was all set to buy this till I seen the 2nd disc was a DC and the code was rotten. BTW anyone seen "Sucker Punch" I was thinking of doing a blind buy on that one.

Crap, I didn't know that code expired already. Does anyone know where the thread is which listed all of the DC expiration dates? I'm pretty sure I saw that here on DVDtalk, but perhaps it was elsewhere...

I have and I liked it despite it's being flawed conceptually. It topped io9's worst list and some critics have treated it like a war crime, but it's not as if it's Green Lantern or Red State, the worst things I've seen this year. Here is the video review I made for it when it ran theatrically and the follow-up for the Extended Cut.

One caveat for the Blu-ray: Due to the way Zack Snyder beats up the image with extreme color grading, it's a surprisingly gritty and noisy-looking disc, just as 300 was. I figured it'd be razor-sharp like Spartacus: Blood and Sand, but it's not. Now, I've been dialing in my new HDTV's calibration and I watched it early, but I think it's the disc. The reviews have been favorable, so maybe it's me.

EDIT: I see that it's $8.49 at Amazon right night, but I could swear it was like $7 or so at Target a couple of weeks ago; it's going to be $15 at Target next week. Weird.

I really don't understand all the hate for Sucker Punch. I thought it was pretty great. I viewed it as an ultra-slick version of Brazil.

I just discovered you cannot combine this with a $10 off $50 coupon. As soon as I applied it, the $5 Puss in Boots coupon disappeared, and I can't get it back. I assume if I place a $50 order not including Puss to use my $10 promo code, then the $5 coupon will come back. I just can't use them together.

EDIT:
Confirmed. I placed an order for The Office S7, Crazy Stupid Love, and Paul to use my $10 promo code. Now the $5 Puss coupon is back.

Visually, I thought it was fantastic. And the fantasy scenes were great. I just didn't like the story, and didn't care much about the lead character. I had no intention of buying it, but when it was $7.99 I bit, just so I could see the extended cut...

re: Amazon Blu-ray Discounts and Deals Thread #27

Michael Medved just announced his Best/Worst films list and had Sucker Punch as the worstest of the worst, just as I expected. He hated everything about it, giving it zero stars when it came out, but it's clear that he had an allergic reaction to the premise which made him lie about the movie to make sure no one saw it. What a clown. He even said the special effects were poor. Say what you will about the skeevy story and overall nonsensical aspects, the fantasy sequences were imaginative and well-done. Haters will hate.

The original trilogy release eventually hit the shelves at Ross for about 30 bucks so just like Kevin Garnett said anything is possible.
