Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Stopped into a Michigan store today (Aug 31) and they were having a 'Buy One Get One 50% Off' sale on all DVD's and Blu-rays (as noted in the DVD bargains forum, but worth noting here). Mostly the same old same old, but there were some $5.00 3D combo packs I hadn't seen there before, mostly from Paramount, including:

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS
STAR TREK BEYOND
WORLD WAR Z
HERCULES (Dwayne Johnson)
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES
SPONGEBOB MOVIE
XXX RETURN OF XANDER CAGE (I don't even remember this one being released in North America in 3D, so clearly I missed it. Ended up ordering it from the UK. Who knew!)
X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Worked out to $3.75 apiece.

I also picked up a bunch of $1.50 clear-out titles, mostly WellGo stuff.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

My store didn't note that blu's were included. Their signage said dvd's only. Wish I would have asked.

I picked up GI Joe Retaliation 3D in addition to some of those. Was surprised to find so many 3D titles.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

My nearest Big Lots is over an hour away, but I hit it today due to the posts about 3D films above.

Wouldn't you know it, mine didn't have any of the 3D titles mentioned above. Not one.

Of course, since I'd driven an hour, I wasn't going to walk out empty-handed, especially since the "Buy One, Get One at 50% Off" sale was on.

I ended up spending $45 on nothing super-exciting. I did pick up a few TV seasons, though, so it's all good.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I was going to go to the 2nd closest one, but right when I locked the door knob to leave, I dropped my keys inside the house & shut the door. $173 later, I don't have any movie budget left.

That will teach you not to lock the door. I kid, I kid. That is why many people leave a spare key somewhere outside.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

No 3D titles but a couple of copies of Zoolander steelbook and Noah with slip covers were the only new things I found. Was easy to pass on

From now on, 2 sets of keys in my pocket at all times (sigh). Unfortunately, I live in an awful neighborhood with a bad homeless problem; it's not safe to hide a key.

We now have a front door where you need a key to lock it from the outside. With my wife’s “blondness” and my advancing years, it was necessary.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Yea, saw the sale and got some good stuff. but i sure if it included blu ray that traffic might have stockpile some if any they wanted really at time. lame they did not include blu ray cause from what i see the media just gonna sit there till next sale or it get cheaper to move supply more unless get another stockpile in and try make space for new stock maybe later.

Why do homeless people need keys?

Oh yeah, I’m going to hell.

Thanks Brian T.! Picked up the two that I wanted -- ST: Beyond and SpongeBob. These are great prices, but it's a shame to see the support for 3D falling off.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Thanks! I was in a BL today & ironically was thinking about a 20% sale day. I thought about some Marilyn Monroe blu's they had in stock; this would take them to $4.20 (I already have a dvd box from the UK with 75% of her output included); I also thought about (Though I really shouldn't spend the money) a nice upholstered rocker that would be marked down to $240 from $300. (My chair has seen better days). Though with our 11% sales tax, the deal isn't quite as great.

Double indemnity

Today I found a 70th Anniversary restored Blu-Ray of DOUBLE INDEMNITY. With the discount, it was $4.00 minus a coupon I had. Great find for today at Big Lots!

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Go there too late for the Monroes.

What really irritated me is on the 17th they had a table of air fryers for $40 ea. I figured I'd bite at 20% off. They had marked them up to $70-$80! & the manager tried to tell me....... "well, they're 20% off........"

I also considered furniture today, but they charge $60 to delver an upholstered chair 2 miles.

Their loss, not mine.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

$60 is cheap for delivery. Pottery Barn quoted me $225 for a chair delivery.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Well that oughta get rid of a lot of stuff that's been sitting around for ages. Might also be a good chance for 3D fans to get something from that recent dump of $5.00 Paramount 3D titles discussed earlier. Can't beat free (unless there's a horde of people around the display).
